I have been on Zoladex for 5 months. I am halfway through my treatment and I'm having a heavy period. Anyone else experience this?

My periods have stopped up until now and I'm having a laparoscopy to remove the endometriosis sometime between May and September.

Hi I have tried both prostap and zoladex and also letrazole and none of them stopped my bleeding. On zoladex I only got 5 days a mnth where I didn't bleed and they weren't all in a group either it was a nightmare. Hope u get sorted soon .

Thanks for the response. I talked to my GP and he sent me down the hospital as I had 4 months with no bleeding and then a sudden bout if heavy bleeding. The gynaecologist said that the Zoladex had thinned my womb lining so much that it had split, exposing my muscle and the arteries that supply the womb lining with a blood supply. These arteries were bleeding out. I have been given two different kinds of female hormones to help build up the lining of my womb and a clotting agent to help stop the bleeding...what a mess. I hope you get sorted soon too!

Hi,

You poor thing! I never knew zoladex could have that effect, you must of been in so much pain. I have had zoladex in the past and looking to go back on it before having surgery, now I am thinking it may be worth considering other medications.

I hope you are feeling ok and that your lap goes well.

Wishing you all the best. Xxx

Hi Smudge26. Thank you for your kind words. I didn't realise that it could have that effect either. Despite this set back, Zoladex has helped me a lot. As long as you get HRT with it, it shouldn't be a problem. I wasn't offered, nor did I know I could have the HRT.

Good luck on your endo journey!

Xxxxx

They have put me on Premarin 1.25mg (conjugated estrogens) and Norethisterone 5mg.

I can't wait to feel more myself again. I'm off from work at the moment and I hate it xxx
