Hey ladies, went back to my gp as being suffering with pain in my stomach, pelvic, back and bottom of my legs on left side! He prescribed me with naproxen and said give it two weeks! Has any one else used naproxen to help relieve pain with endometrosis? Xx
Naproxen : Hey ladies, went back to my gp... - Endometriosis UK
Naproxen
Yes I used it for quite a while - it's the main painkiller in Feminax plus which you can buy in boots for period pain. Made me a bit sleepy, which is the best thing when you've been in agony- painkillers that knock you out! It worked quite well for a while, but then my pains got worse and nothing really touched it, nurofen plus with codeine helps a bit, but you don't want to taking that for long, codeine's pretty addictive, and I found that after a few days I'd get a really bad headache, not sure if that's me being weird or the effect of too many NSAIDs!
Good luck, hope it helps you,
Xx
I was on diclofenac as were many other ladies and we have all been switched on to Naproxen in the past few months. so yes lots of us are now on it. I take is as and when pain is a bit more severe than the usual over the counter meds can manage. I try and vary my pain meds quite a bit. Still have some of my stash of diclofenac- which i do prefer to naproxen, but it is a decent enough pain killer- i agree on the drowsy side- but diclofenac/voltarol also makes me drowsy too.... more than the usual chronic fatigue I always have anyway.
Thanks for your responses been told to take it twice daily so I'll see what happens xx
I have taken Naproxen.
I have been taking Naproxen for my endo pain for a number of years now and really have found it helpful since I have a codeine allergy and dont cope with tramadol very well. I cant say it gets rid of the pain but for me, it definitely taked the edge off.
The only thing I would mention is that Im on upto 1000mg a day and if I take the maximum dose, it gives me tummy problems such as nausea and acid reflux
If that's the case for you, your gp should be able to prescribe something to protect your stomach eg Lansoprazole.
Theyre definitely worth trying and hopefully theyll have the desired effect on you xx
