Is it possible for a laparoscopy to miss endo?
Hi,
I had first lap around 4 years ago and no endo found despite having symptoms of it for around 10 years.
Had second lap in April this year and found endo stage 2 and subserosal fibroid.
Weird as it may sound I was quite relieved when they told me they had found it, as for years I felt as if nobody believed that I was in pain!!
I am still experiencing pain daily and am currently on the mini pill to suppress symptoms.
Also on mefenamic acid to help with pain and inflammation.
My gp said these meds are only short term and I will have to be re referred to gynae.
Don't give up if you suspect you have endo. There are far too many women that go for many years without a diagnosis of this horrible illness!!!
Good luck Nat xx
Thanks nat, that's really helpful to know. Where did they find endo second time round?
Hi iris 1,
endo was found on both ovaries and a subserosal fibroid growing out from my uterus. Had no pain for around 6 weeks after surgery and thought it would be gone forever! Now 6 months after surgery I feel like I'm back to square one with the pain.
Waiting to see if these meds help any over the next week or so? If not, then my gp says he will refer me back to gynae.
Feeling low at the moment as pain is constant and I just feel like I want to sleep. Don't seem to have any energy at all!!
Sorry to sound miserable x
Hi,
No need to apologise- not surprised u feel miserable. Hope the meds start working for you and that if not u get seen by gynae again soon x
Yes it is possible. I had a lap a few years ago on the nhs and surgeon said that there was no endo despite me having had very severe symptoms. I decided to go private as was in so much pain and just knew something was wrong. Sure enough at the next lap they discovered endo. I think you have to listen to your body and when you feel something is wrong it is worth getting a second opinion. Like others on this forum say it is so bad that it takes ladies years before a diagnosis as we just get dismissed and told it is normal. I think often docs think we are just complaining about normal period pains which are nothing in comparison to endo pains. Don't suffer in silence, if pain continues go back to your doc. There are some specialist endo centres around so ask doc about a referral to one of those. Take care xx
Yes. I was told after a lap in June 2012 there were no signs of endo, although things were stuck together (because of endo, duh!). I've just had another lap 2 weeks ago at a specialist endo centre, and they spent 7 hours removing all my endo! X
I has lap in 2010 where they found "some" endo another in jan this year and non found despite pain being back and worse feel like it's in my head so fustrated
