Pain from being turned on

I know people talk about pain during sex but does anyone else hurt when they get turned on?? I feel like a freak.

Sorry if this offends anyone or it has been discussed before (well I'm not really all that sorry to be honest).

Hiya, yes I do sometimes. Doesn't happen all the time. Feels like a sharp ache on one side of my privates, usually the right hand side. I have in the past has a cyst and wondered if it was as a result of that. Sometimes a pea sized lump appears but it disappears all by itself. xx

I'm so sorry to hear that! I have to say, I find this the hardest pain to discuss with GPs, even some specialists. I'm fine talking about it but some of the doctors (including women) get awkward (slightly unprofessional in my opinion). You even have to hint at masturbation like it's some great secret that women get themselves off! Ha ha! No place for conservatism when it comes to discussing endometriosis.

Hi AnnaGoudie

I too get pain on arousal, during intercourse, on orgasm and after sex, even the next day I feel achy all over like my body's in shock!

I have also had very very very tender breasts and nipples for some time now and not the usual tenderness just around a period nor exclusively around this time either. It was every now and then but recently its been continuous. And when aroused my breasts are huge and feel so heavy.

The weird thing is though, that I think this is what is causing my heightened state of arousal most of the time.

How fab would this be if one hadn't any endo pains but it makes me very moody, argumentative and tearful sometimes within minutes I can go from one emotion to the other, due to hormones and pain, I am guessing!

And I don't just look pregnant (from bloating) but I feel it too!

You are right too about discussing this with GP or Gynae, I couldn't do it, felt too embarrassed. I kept thinking they might think I had a sex addiction or something!

Oh and I haven't so far seen any other posts about your topic except the painful intercourse so glad you brought it up.

Thank you for your post and I hope things work out for you

You too x

(I thought it was worth an ask as when I said this to an open minded gynae he told me he'd not been told that before by other patients but that it made sense due to the physical reaction of arousal. He also said he thinks he'd probably not been told about it from anyone else due to the sensitivity/societal embarrassment of the subject.)

Sure that makes sense Anna. If it is a more common symptom than we realise though, maybe we ladies (me included) should think seriously about telling someone because it could help stop a misdiagnosis.

It wasn't just embarrassment that stopped me from speaking up, it was that I couldn't see the connection but it makes perfect sense when you consider that a hormone produced by a woman whilst pregnant is what makes her breast enlarge, too. And I am sure these hormones are deceiving my body. Read about that today but forgotten what its called, sorry brain fog!

Also I read a blog on this site that a lady was suffering with symptoms of Mastitis!

You really do have to be a Sherlock about your own body and illnesses, especially Endo, my GP actually said to me "Angie, so very little is known about Endometriosis".

Good job we all have each other.

Take care Anna x

No one knows what causes it, what happens, why it happens, it varies so much. As soon as I guessed it was what I had, I knew it was something I was just going to deal with and never get a cure. And, yes, thank god we have each other.

I wish they'd ask us more for our input into their research, no one understands this better than us. X

I have the same thing, it feels like you have grazed you knee but on the inside down there whe. You are aroused. I feel terrible because I have the best partner in the world but I cant show him the way I want to :( will I ever be able to have a sex life with this stupid illness?

You will be able to, if you have a partner as good as mine (which I'm assuming so with your comment) then as long as you're open and honest even with this crappy crappy illness you will still be able to enjoy it. I feel awful with how infrequently we have sex because of me, but he gets that I still want him and it's just the endo stuff stopping me. Make the most of when you can and I bet he totally understands! Also, thank you, because I had no idea the pain I had which is exactly how you describe it, was due to the endo. :)

I have this too, thought I was the only one. Only thing I can think of is that since your pelvic organs move up during arousal to make room that its that movement causing the pain.
