I ended up being admitted to hospital this week because of one.

Is anyone having severe headaches with Prostap injection?
Hi
I completely feel for you, when I first started prostap I suffered from really awful headaches, even ended up signed off work for 2 weeks due to them at one point. My GP and neurologist were convinced it couldn't be the prostap and instead said it was cluster headaches where I had to give myself injections, but I'm not so sure and am certain it was the prostap and my new gynae agrees. Good thing was that the headaches did wear off after about 4-6 weeks, sounds like a long time but once my body got more used to the prostap the headaches stopped x
Thank you! I really needed to hear this. Ever since I had the injections I have had these headaches. They put me on HRT to help but it hasn't. I have had two of the six injections so far and i'm worried about carrying on. I am a teacher and have a very stressful job. My boss seems to think I need to go on long term sick. I really don't want to because I'm not unwell everyday and I think having the endo and all that goes with it being off work will make me really fed up and depressed. What did you take for the headaches? x
Hi
I started HRT after 6 months and got headaches from that as well and again as a withdrawal when I stopped the hrt so it could be both. I took sumatriptan, both as a nose spray and as an injection that I injected in my leg - neither are very nice but they did really work and nothing else touched the headaches. My doctors were convinced that because this drug worked for the headaches then they were cluster headaches but I really think it was the prostap. Only way il know for sure is if I get another bout of the headaches whilst not on prostap.
I'm a solicitor so I completely understand how hard it can be trying to work whilst on the prostap and suffering from the side effects, I didn't sleep properly for months, had the awful headaches and hot flushes etc but overall I adjusted to it after about 4 months and the headaches stopped, overall it was worth me sticking it out as I could just about carry on at work whereas without the prostap I couldn't function at all, had got to the point where I couldn't leave the house and couldn't work at all! In the end I had 11 doses, I've literally just finished it but it's still very much in my system as hot flushes are still crazy!
I suppose you need to weigh up whether the side effects are worse than how you felt without the prostap to decide whether or not to stick it out. For me the headaches lasted 4-6 weeks, it was awful at the time but it did pass and I moved to 3 month doses of the prostap and didn't seem to suffer so bad after that so that might be worth trying as well?? x
Thanks this is really helpful. This is the first time I have been on here. I just need some advice off people who are going through it. My friends are fantastic but they can only advise on what they know. I have been really fed up today thinking about having time off work. I love my job and I feel it keeps me going. The thought of being off for a long time is not making me feel any better. I feel I should give prostap a go I just need to control the headaches. I really appreciate your advice x
Hiya not sure how simalar this is to the lupron injection I have been having, but I too suffered servere headaches, along with many other horrible side effects x
Prostap IS Lupron..same thing. Lupron is the US brand name and Prostap the British brand name for the exact same product.
lupronvictimshub.com/index.... has masses of information about this drug.
Oh I didn't know that thanks will take a look, I've also just started today with very painful and swollen ankles!?
Wonder if that is one of the side effects to! X
I had a very mild headache every day for the first two weeks of being on prostap and then they went away and um on my second injection and its ok now.
I'm starting to wonder if there is a link between the intensity of side effects and whether ppl are on one mth or three mthly injections? Is anyone on 3mthly ones and having severe headaches? X
Hello yes I'm on 3 monthly and suffering extremely bad with horrific headaches. To the point I cannot function or do so anything at all! X
Sorry to hear that Lucie I am having the monthly injections and I am getting really bad migraines i don't think I will bother going for the 3 monthly ones then. I have been on HRT patches evrol which has caused me to bleed for 3 weeks so Iv stopped them now to try a different HRT. Evrol only helped slightly with the migraines hope I find something that helps. Hope you do too. Hope you feel better soon x
I didn't know you could have a 3mthly injection. Would be interesting to know if like you say ppl are having headaches with that one?? x
