Next steps.... Hi all, I had a laparoscopy 20 months ago (2yrs in nov) and still suffering with pain.

The gynae said he had removed small bits of endometriosis and that my right ovary was tethered but that was also sorted out. He said I was fine and shouldn't have any problems conceiving - my partner and I were trying for 2 years before the laparoscopy.

I am now with a new partner and we have decided to try for a baby. It's still early days ( I think?!), we've been trying since Christmas but I'm feeling really apprehensive that I won't get pregnant.

Has anyone else been in a similar position? Is it likely I will have to go for a second laparoscopy?

A lot of what happens from now is down to your decision. You haven't been trying long (12 to 18 months is the average time, and you can't count your previous partner as it was different sperm) so unless you can't cope with the pain you will be best to carry on trying until you get to the 12 month mark then seek a fertility referral - who may or may not decide to do another lap.

Are you trying to time things or using OPKs and doing it every other day? Also, have a look at your vitamins - pregnacare pre-conception are actually seen to get a higher than average pregnancy rate (same for your partner).

After 12 months they will run tests to check your hormone and your partners sperm and depending on what they find they its possible they may suggest a lap.

If you cannot cope any more with the pain ask for a gynie referral, but if you can manage it then I would recommend waiting as in theory it's thought that every lap you have can affect your ovarian reserve and cause more adhesions in the future.

Good luck - hope that helps!

P.s Im basing my advise on the fact that we chose the endo treatment before fertility treatment route and only just getting our first fertility consultation now after ttc for 3/4 years!x

Thanks cloudy!

I can manage the pain until my period comes - very heavy and very painful. But maybe if I see the doc and moan abit they will look at some appropriate pain killers.

Yep I'm using pregnacare and wondering now whether to look at ovulation kits as not sure when I'm ovulating..

Again, Thank you for your reply! I just wanted some assurance from somebody else with endo :-)

Sorry i meant to say im 21 nearly 22 lol

Hello Elizabeth

I know how you feel ive had 2 operations in 1 and half years and i dont know where to go next either i have pain everyday i had severe stage 4 endometriosis i have poly cystic ovaries and possibly adenomyosis which they have told me cant be cured unless i have a hysterectomy (the adenomyosis)

I have been advised to try start a family now and being refered to fertility clinic for tests, im not sure im even ready for a child i always said il be ''25'' before i have a child being only nearly 22 im abit young but i know il be a good mum and id rather it be early than wake up one day and regret it and have no children and be unable.
