HI Vonnie,Stay away from all ibuprofen. Unfortunately, they do help with pain, but they destroy the kidney. Tylenol will help but too much of that will ruin the liver. Talk with your Rheumatologists to get on a treatment plan to get the RD under control and lower your inflammation. That impacts everything. Believe it or not, making sure that you are hydrated will also help with the inflammation. Try to work through the pain as much as you can until they set up a treatment. I know it is frustrating.

Yes NSAIDS (Naproxen) should be avoided with CKD. Occasional use will NOT destroy the kidney, nor even harm it. Tylenol as an alternative to NSAIDS is usually recommended but here too should only be taken occasionally as it bothers the liver. But again, occasional usage is NOT harmful. I see 5 doctors of different specialties (heart, kidney, cancer, general, urology) and they all tell me it takes long term frequent usage to hurt the kidney. Unfortunately, a lot of medications for inflammation, with long term usage will hurt the kidney. Prednisone too can be harmful, but ask your doctor about low dosage of 2.5mg or less for occasional relief.

Avoid dairy and high protein foods, processed foods and chocolate. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, small amounts of lean meats and fish. Stay hydrated.

The best advice I can give is you should not take anything with anti inflammatory in them. They really do affect your kidneys
