I work out alot and been getting tested alot about gfr in the last month, so at one point my gfr was down to 65.. stopped going to the gym and it went back up to 80.. got a nephrologist apt and gfr was 100 somehow, it seems everytime I work out hard creatinine skyrockets to 120 and gfr goes down the drain, this time my nephrologist sent me for another test, I've been working out hard and now since one visit my gfr went from 100 back down to 75.. it just seems like that's extreme.. basically my urine has been bubbly as hell and literally looking like syrup so I assumed kidney damage from anabolic steroids, I went for my first apt and my proteinuria was 0.30 and normal is under 0.15.. doctor told me not to worry they don't take it seriously until it's much higher and online is just a reference range, now these are my blood tests as of today, waiting for my apt, should I be worried? Not sure why the photo is blurry got proteinuria is 0.17 now but still says hi, even though reference is 0.15 and under, and creatine clearance 24h says 20.1 and reference is just 20, I just don't why my urine would look like this if I don't have ckd, I swear something is wrong with my kidneys. It's like syrup looking and fills the whole bowl with bubbles but yet my proteinuria isn't that high? It just started all the sudden in January to, first dark urine no matter how hydrated, than bubbles, now even more bubbles.

Why does my gfr drop 25 in a month, but go back up?
Hi Jaysoncraig11,
How are you feeling in yourself? Are you feeling well if you keep managing to work out?
Your kidney function looks reasonably normal on the above blood results. However, I did find an article that may be of interest to you regarding not having blood tests performed up to 7 days after working out or the influence it may have on the results. It tends to affect the liver function numbers, the CK and also can produce increased amounts of myoglobin, which is excreted in the urine (and makes it appear dark). It is normal and nothing to worry about, it just would affect the blood test results.
The GFR change you have experienced could be attributable to dehydration post exercise?

I hope this might help shed some light and otherwise chat to your Doctor about what he think the results might reflect.
Keep us posted and let us know what you find out and how you are feeling.
Has anyone else on this forum got any information or advice they could share with Jaysoncraig11?

Well you are doing the right thing being under a doctors care. And they are running all the right tests to determine if there is a problem or not. There must also be at least 1000 posts on here of people concerned with bubbles in urine, and convinced this means ckd. I have had bubbles in urine (as you say covers the entire bowl) for long time (years) and my urine tests are all normal. So don't automatically assume this means you have ckd. Next time you urinate, aim so it does not hit the water. Just the side of bowl. See if you still get the bubbles that concern you. I would guess not, or just normal amount. Sometimes just the force of urination hitting the water can cause bubbles. Also pay attention throughout the day. Do you notice that in the morning there are more bubbles than later in the day (hydration). You say it appears like syrup. Try urinating into a bowl or dish without water in it. See if the pure urine gives you a strange syrup look. I would guess not. These are useful things to then report to your doctor (urologist?). As another reply has suggested, your workouts (extreme) definitely can have an effect. The key thing is you are seeing a kidney doctor.
No matter how I owe it's gross and the bubbles don't go away and it looks thick, started earlier this year just getting darker without bubbles. Only time it looks somewhat normal is when I sit down or am going number 2, when sitting urine looks normalish
The normal look you get when sitting is exactly the type of thing I was trying to say about trying to not hit the water while standing. To see if it is the just the force with which you urinate causing the bubbles, versus not. Remember your kidney and bladder do not know if you are sitting or standing :). So if you don't get abnormality while sitting, or a lot less, then it is likely NOT kidney. You report your urine is getting darker. Generally speaking as kidney's weaken urine gets lighter. go to google. Search on "cloudy urine". You will find many websites which describe possible causes which are NOT CKD. One thing that can cause both thick (syrup) urine and/or dark urine is a Urinary Tract Infection (simply treated with medication).
