Needing advice after recent labs!

Hello, Im new to this community and wrote here recently for the 1st time. Anyways, I just went in for my latest labs and found out my Creatinine level went up from 1.31 June 2018 to 1.61 in May 2019 and now 1.66 in June of 2019. The odd thing to me is that my GFR went up from 48 to now 50? And no protein found in my urine. Still awaiting ultrasound and followup with Nephrologist. Has anyone experienced their numbers trending in opposite directions like this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

That doesn't sound right, as your creatinine increases, your GFR should deteriorate? I would think someone on here who knows more than me will reply.

Your numbers will go up and down some. Talk to your doctor. Our doctors told us not to get caught up on the numbers to much

It is unusual that your creatinine will increase an so will your egfr! One thing that my influence it is your age. The egfr is calculated by taking your lab creatinine, age, sex, race and calculating your gfr. Perhaps you had a different age? You celebrated a birthday in the second test? Another reason is there are DIFFERENT methods to calculate egfr. I told you the first one. Another is to take the same things into consideration but to also add to the equation your actual height and weight. Usually this second approach (with height and weight) will increase your egfr. Basically my advice, forget the egfr things. It is so unreliable. Just concentrate on your actual blood test result in creatinine, BUN. If these numbers are increasing, and are high, talk to your doctor.

Thank you for your reply! The last two blood tests were taken just one week apart. So height, age, weight were all similar. I will say I was fasted in the most recent one but not in the two prior. I’m trying not to fixate on the numbers so much, as I am the trends. So when I saw the Creatinine and Gfr both increase, I thought that was odd. I’m going to see a Naturopath today, to get a second opinion. Still awaiting appointment for scan of kidneys and kidney specialist appointment.

Fasting will usually make your egfr and creatinine levels higher. Yes your height and weight were all similar HOWEVER maybe in one test they just used the formula that does not consider height and weight, then in the next they did include height and weight.

Also, is one week apart significant time for the body to “heal” per say? It was originally suspected that my creatinine and gfr #’s were skewed due to my bodybuilding background, supplement use, high protein diet. Since there was little change in that one week, should I wait say 4-6 more weeks in hopes of better results possibly? Thanks for any advice from the forum!!
