Good afternoon,

I have CKD 3.

Creatine 1.24

GFR 57

I had the unfortunate occurrence to have a car accident several years ago and I am now needing chiropractor treatment.

I’ve advised the Dr of my condition and the use of NSAIDS.

He suggested a herbal supplement like Boswellia.

Which is still a NSAID but it is processed totally different.

I am very careful regarding the medication that I take.

Is there a website that I can check myself to make sure that I am handling my CKD with the utmost care?

Or has anyone with CKD used Boswellia?

Is it safe for CKD patients?

I am waiting for a call back from my primary care Dr.

It seems that most Dr’s don’t know or are not as concerned as they should be.

It’s my health so I have to be proactive.

Hello Margie, I have done a little research into Boswellia and this is what I have gained from the search. Boswellia is a herbal extract taken from the Boswellia Serrata tree.

It is known as Indian frankincense and has been used in Asian and African society as folk medicine. It's properties treat chronic inflammatory illness as well as some other health conditions. There is research on its efficacy on certain websites. However yes, speaking with your main health professional is the best advice you have thought of.

I have included one website below that mentions research on all its herbal supplements.

You may like to check the site out bearing in mind that they are a business company. Good luck and do keep in touch with us.

Regards,

I’m not familiar with that particular herb but I can tell you that you are right. Doctors are not going to suggest or encourage anything outside their usual treatment. It’s up to you. I have been taking many herbs and supplements since I started this at GFR 11. That was almost 4 years ago, so they do make a difference. You’re in my prayers. God can do anything 😀

Personally, I would advise against any herbal medications. Herbal meds are (by nature) mixtures of a lot of substances and therefore can have a LOT of effects on the body. Please be careful, not just for kidney health, but for a host of other problems.

Chiropractors generally are not well versed in internal medicine and often can promote things which they really don’t understand. Another reason to be careful. Good luck.

One more thing. If it’s a chiropractor that uses “violent” crunching “adjustments “, please be careful. I know a lot of people harmed by this.
