I have gotten a lot of advice from being on this site. The most important thing is to not panic. I know it is scary but from what I learned many different things can affect your results. If you have recently been on certain medications, or sick that could affect your results. You didn't say how old you are either? I would do my best to try and relax and eat healthy. I had a test and my number was low and then I was retested and my number went up. I hope this helps you. I am also most certain this site will help you. Please let us know how you are. :)

Yes as jm26 said please don't panic this makes matters worse it sounds like your function is 43% it can stay stable for many years my husband used to see a consultant only once a year until he had a sudden unexpected drop he used to have a blood test every 3 months in between done by the gp this is standard practice i think if its needed so normally its many years of monitoring depending on whats caused the decline hopefully will be the same for you you can equally have some slight improvement & results fluctuate daily so they look for a trend but your appointment for 11th nov sounds fine! good luck xxx

Yes, good advice not to panic. When mine was 49, my GP said don't worry, it's considered mild disease at that level. A while ago they changed the system for recording CKD by moving the numbers around so that even mild cases show up as looking like a more serious problem. Don't use ibuprofen, I think that probably did for me. Since I stopped my number has gone up to 54. Cut down on salt and eat lots of fruit and veg but be aware that if potassium is a factor in your diagnosis, some fruit and veg should be avoided as they contain potassium eg: bananas, avocado, tomatoes etc. I panicked after my diagnosis but I'm more relaxed now and try not to think about it too much between blood tests.

Please don't panic you are OK. My GFR ranges from 27 - 30 and all the docs need to do is 'keep an eye on it'.

Try not to panic, not easy I know.

I panicked aswell.

Just wait for your appointment, some things will be explained to you then, keep looking on this site you learn more.

The people are lovely ,we all have the same problems and fears.

I have seen a consultant twice, my next one is in November.

I do suffer from anxiety I still will be shakey!

But, its early days for your brain to accept it, it will get easier.

I hope all goes well. You can do it.

Love Dawn

Hi Suzziemae. Friends on this site have been so helpful to me as I felt very concerned when my hubby had reading of 27..... now 36. Please don't panic your reading is really O.K. and a November appointment sounds fine to me. As everyone says keep hydrated perhaps drink more water, a sensible diet without cutting out anything right now, all things in moderation is a good idea. When is comes to medication anti-inflammatories not a good idea, painkillers such as ibuprofen are best avoided also. Stay as calm as you can and positive too......Keep in touch. Love Belle xx

I was in a similar position, had to see nurse, who spent time going through info with me, explained a lot and felt much better for it. Try patient.co.uk which is fantastic for info and explaining in simple detail. Good luck. 😊Jan

Do not panic. Limit protein, salt, glucose, potassium, phosphorous foods. Fresh vegetables and fruits are generally advised. Try to drink enough water. Do not forget walking. Try not to have stress.
