I have asthma and also type 3 diabetes and take metformin with each meal and my Fostsair inhaler twice a day.
Since I've been using it I've noticed that things I fidnt have a problem with before like chillies, salt and vinegar crisps, citrus fruit all are much much more harder to tolerate eating. They make my tongue feel like I've drank a really hot drink and burnt my tongue or like I've licked a raw chilli seeds n all!
Has anyone had this problem?
I use a spacer when using my inhaler and brush my teeth and rinse after. Am I going anything wrong?
Help!! X

I fibro and my tongue and eyes are so dry, my said it can also be all the meds you are in. I did buy some pastilles from the chemist which helped my mouth. Sorry I can't be of more help. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
I found metformin changed my tolerance to certain food and drinks, coffee mostly I used to drink lots of coffee but cant even stand the smell or taste of it
Metformin changed my taste for coffee, too. I drank 2 cups a day for 25 years and tried to quit coffee in the past which is almost impossible. After Metformin the taste coffee started making me very queasy which made it easier to quit. Now I drink tea. I still love the smell of coffee and I do miss the enjoyment sitting at a coffee shop with that first cup of the morning.
