Last Night's Information: DEXCOM

Hi everyone. Well, I had an interesting ( and something new to learn) as an experience related to my G6 system and the phone's software updated system. I never knew this since no one has ever told me (or anyone else) that if you use the G6 CGM system, you aren't suppose to upgrade the phone's system after 13.6. If you update after that version, the G6 system's app for the phone will start having unexplained issues and eventually will not work with the phone. I had updated to 14.0.1 recently and started having trouble calibrating last night before my bedtime snack ( and again before 10:30 pm). Sad to say, but I ended up calling the Reps. for Tech. Support and told them what happened. They said to stop the sensor I had used recently ( it didn't work that well yesterday afternoon starting at 2 pm on and off) and said they were going to send me a free new sensor coming in the next 3-7 days from yesterday night. Apparently, this new information 'is in the Users Guide'. I went to get the Users Guide and it wasn't in there. So, my plan for the upcoming future is this: Use the receiver as the main way to get the readings ( when it's giving them) and use the phone as a back up ( until the app no longer can work).

As for other issues, I put a new sensor in last night with the Rep. still on the phone in case something else went wrong. I had to get up around 1:10 am today because the warm up period ended and I had to see what the number was when there was a beep saying things were successful. After that was taken care of, it was time to head back to sleep for a few more hours with no other alarms going off.

This afternoon a while later after lunch had ended, I had a few alarms going off saying I was dropping with 2 arrows straight down. I tested and the system was way off, but I never could calibrate because you're not suppose to do that when the numbers have straight down or straight up arrows. So, I waited to see if things would work themselves out and the numbers went away for a little while then came back. Not too happy about the numbers going away, but glad they came back not too long ago. The only benefit of having put in this new sensor last night was, I don't have to worry about it too much when I go to my brother's for dinner for the first time since we had to do lockdown/isolation.

Well, this is all for now. Stay safe, happy and healthy! Watch this page for more updates to come soon! :-)

Hi,

Good grief! What a farce this new CGM system is?! I don't know how you manage to do all this without getting stressed out.

TT x.

It’s not easy, but I try to do deep breathing to calm down every so often.😀👍🌈

Thank you! I appreciate that very much!😀👍🌈

I’m staggered about this Leah what a carry on it sounds awful having to check it at that time.

So good luck with this sensor. 😊

Thank you for that. I ended up going to bed last night around 11:30 pm, then a few minutes later after 1:10 am.😀👍🌈

Will let you know what else happens soon.

Goodness me Leah you really do have so much trouble with your ‘unfriendly’ machine. You are a star to be able to cope with these almost daily challenges.

You certainly seem to know how to handle these problems. I suppose that you have too know.

I hope that your morning is going well, take care, best wishes, Tim.

Thank you for saying that, Tim. Sometimes, it gets a little hard, but I don't let it get me down. You just have to keep going! :-)
