How long can insulin be kept out of fridge and how much be kept in temp??

Hello Umar. I have been to some very hot places on my Motorbike (no fridge etc). & camping so no power & only had Frio bags to keep stable temp. People on pumps have insulin next to them upto 3 days ? Shorter the time insulin is out of the fridge the better.

It depends on the brand of insulin. Some can be out for 28 days. Check with your doctor and/or pharmacist.

You can get an item to hold your insulin in outside of the house then put it back in the refrigerator when you get back.

If vial is opned, it should be kept at home temperature.

An unopened cartridge should be kept in a refrigerator at between 2 to 8 degrees Centigrade and away from the cooling element (I keep the cartridges in their box inside a plastic container in the fridge).

An opened cartridge can be kept with you at room temperature (below 30 degrees Centigrade.

Every pack of insulin will be issued with a Patient Information leaflet which will give instructions how your particular brand or formulation should be stored.
