Hi guys I have diabetes type 1- not very well controlled....still learning about carbs and recently been told I'm gluten intolerant which isn't helping my diet! Is anybody else in the same shoes as myself? Love to hear anything from Abu person with diabetes because only we understand each other in my opinion.

Hi SID123,
Having both diabetes and a gluten sensitivity/intolerance is sometimes hard. You are always trying to find the "perfect" food that is both gluten free and can help you with the correct amount of carbs without eating too many or not enough. Has your doctor explained about carb counting? How many carbs are you allowed to eat for each meal and snack? How many times a day do you have to do your insulin doses?
I take basal abs bolus injections..and inject per meal - 3 times a day and sometimes even is a carby snack.i really would like to know much about carbs than I already do.when I find a gluten free item of food the majority is high in carbs.i can't win it seems!
Hi Sid 123. You are very right in saying not many understand T1. After more than 50yrs of T1 I have had lots of conversations with health care Drs & Nurses. Its getting on with people but they do not get it. I have never been unemployed in my life & was diagnosed at the age of 3. (a long time ago). How many injections ? some times 4 a day. Now on a pump & like it a lot. A feeling of being free I think ! Can you imagine growing up & wanting that bag of crisps, That was before fine needles & quick acting insulin. Good luck !
