Greetings!
What are glass syringes and panel pin needles?
Hi Activity, Glass syringes were what you where given in the early days. My father who was a very strong man was the only person who could inject me in arms. Skin was like elephant hide & twice the syringe gave up & glass every where ! & never mind fine needles like you get today. You got 1 or 2 a year. The kids of today ? Panel pins are small nails for joiners.
I remember the World Cup and the glass syringes from way back when. When I was told 6 months ago I would have to inject into my stomach I nearly passed out. The young diabetes nurse couldn't understand why I was so worried and I didn't know how painless the procedure is now. (I have a fat tummy so it's easier).
It must have been hard for you with the old fashioned syringes. 😳
Things have moved on for the better in that respect. 😀
Hi Suzie, there are a lot of people who have different ideas of injections. My father was a very very strong man & my skin on my arms was so tough that the needles used to bend, twice the glass syringes have exploded all over the floor & then as another injection ! CALM DOWN ! Ask me if I like injections ? That's what keeps me alive !

Best wishes you will find a lot of support on this site.
I have diabetes type 1 since 1978. I remember the glass syringes well. We only got plastic syringes when hiv and aids appeared and it was decide to give free disposable syringes to drug addicts.
You are right Lmc1. We have been saved by the druggies! What next?
