Heart/ CV is the single most Diabetic complications and the No.1 killer even among non- Diabetes in the world..recently Saurabha Ganguli - The Great Cricketer in india and the world who was supposed to be one of the most healthiest sportsman also suffered a heart attack!
Please don't get scared. You can definitely take control of it if you are well informed. Because we have a health condition called Diabetes.....we need to be bit cautious about our Heart....
Can we ask these questions ?How many of us check our lipids ? How often we check ? Do we go for a treadmill test every year?Do we give importance to our lipid profile reading ? May be we are happy if we are able to control our blood Sugar ?....Now please read on.....
Last I checked my lipid profile on 2nd December, 2020 and had posted my result..

(Curiously , I checked since I am following a diet which requires monitoring for sometime for its sustenance...).
My diet remains the same, except that I added some walnuts -5 whole ....10 halves...daily ...apart from the flax seed Powder 1 table-spoonful daily....
My logic was Flax seed has omega 6: omega 3 =4:1 , where as Walnut has such ratio with 1:4.....I wanted to make my EFA intake Omega 6:Omega 3= 1:1 which is ideal.
Needless to say that both Omega 6. & Omega 3 are the only " essential fatty Acids" -EFA which our human Body can not make and we need it from dietary sources...and within limits...just sufficient to provide us the EFA's.
All other fats " non-essential" for the body such as saturated fat ( SFA) , MUFA as found in Meat, Dairy, Olive , Peanuts , Almonds ....are inflammatory to the body and could damage endothelial / arteries.....and could cause atherosclerosis...in the long run.
This is what all the plant based food researchers Doctors / nutrition experts have been telling....you may please refer my previous posts....
Cyrus khambatta may be a specialist in diabetes , but he always takes his inputs from other sub-specialists from time to time and updates his dietary guidelines for the members in his MD forum...he also speaks updates in social media...
For example, he would alway refers for any latest updates from : Dr Esselstyn on Heart,., Dr Greger on nuts & seeds nutrition, Dr MC Dougall for starch , Dr campbell & Neil Barnard and Dr. Fuhrman for overall diet.. and Dr Ms Ayesha Sherzai & Dean for Dementia and Alzheimer's, brain health...
One thing common to all the above specialists/ sub-specialists....that all are highly educated in medicine , health , nutrition with MD PH.D... who recommend a Whole plant based diet as a solution for all modern day illness ..they all have clinical practice experience....none of them recommend any allopathy medicines....so they are not attached to any Multinational pharma companies ... Within Whole Plant based Diet universe, there are some major differences ......only with regards to Plant based Fat on seeds & nuts.
Dr Esselstyn says a big " No" to all kind of fats both animal and plant based except flax seed or chia seed for omega 3...if a person wants zero risk against heart/ CV... . at the best one can take algae based DHA..
Dr..Greger and Dr Fuhrman would recommend walnuts apart from flax seed - one serving a day ...but zero oil.
Dr Neil Barnard & MC Dougall would recommend one serving of nuts / seeds a day....
Thanks to Medical Journalism in USA which is very strong and whenever there is a contradiction on advice on diet and nutrition , they bring those people face to face and seek clarification....going to attach few videos....which is very interesting ....I will have to locate from my library ...

Dr Esselstyn encountered question on Fats from seeds & nuts. Next to him , sits Dr Campbell , the researcher who did " the China Study " and wrote his best seller book " The China Study" - made a documentary in actual food habits in China .

I am sorry for those who don't understand hindi since it is partly in hindi.
Those of you don't know Dr.Biswsroop Roy Chowdhury, He is a Naturopath recommends a Low Fat Whole plant based diet for each and every illness.....here what he is trying to say that Angioplasty/ Angiography procedure may not be required for a blockage ....can be reversed by a healthy diet- says in another video...how to reverse.....incidentally it is somewhat in line with what dr Esselstyn and other researchers from USA say. It is very interesting to watch Dr Biswaroop' videos- there are still dozens of you tube videos available on line . If his video's are removed , he has a lot of followers / Fans who quotes his recommendations and they insert video's which now you tube can not remove. So finally all his talk is available all over social media . He had his own website ....and does clinical practice at different cities and countries- all free or a very little money just to get back his expenditure. There are lot of people who got health benifits keep donating him and organise his camps... He has a published books which costs no money...because all his views are available free in his website.
So much so , he says you don't need a health check up if you eat a healthy diet, do some exercise.... here in this particular video, his recommendation is for the normal otherwise healthy people- may not be applicable for diabetes as diabetes need to check their health conditions from time to time and medications if required after following a healthy and nutritious diet & physical exercise , life style change.
