I am 29 from India. I was weighing 86 kg in June 2016. I used to enjoy ice cream and chocolates everyday. Chicken biryani was my favourite dish. Still, suddenly I started loosing weight but I was happy as I am loosing the same. I also was urinating a lot but thought that it might be because am always in AC rooms. I nearly lost 20 Kgs.

In January 2017, while working in office and enjoying my sugary tea, I suddenly felt that I am going to fall and some strange things are happening with me. I rushed to the company health care clinic and told my condition to the GP, he checked my blood sugar and it was 600. I asked doctor what is the normal range for the sugar , he told me it should be 90 and then I realised what happened to me. I was rushed to the nearest hospital because of DKA and very high ketones in the urine. Things started changing after that.

My HBA1C was 14, I was in ICU for 3 days and it took 2 days to clear the DKA and remove all the ketones from the body via urine. Was discharged after 5 days. When I tried to get up and walk to the reception desk for paying the bills I suddenly felt that I am getting pushed to one side and felt rocking sensation, the same sensation which we generally feel when we get down from a train or a boat.

When I came home I was not even able to eat due to rocking sensation, was totally frustrated, at 27 when you have such health disorders in place it is really irritating and depressing. I started having 60 units of Insulin per day as my fasting was 340 and PP was 500.

I went to doctor after 1 week due to rocking sensation and balance problem I was having. Nuero told me that my balance nerves are damaged due to high sugar and because of this I am having a balance issue. Life was never the same after this.

I nearly went through all the balance tests like MRI , ENG VNG VEMP but nothing came positive. Then after a lot of googling, I found my symptoms are much similar to a neurological disease called MDDS. And was shocked to read that there is no cure til date for MDDS.

Today it has been 2 years , I am off from insulin and having MF 1500 mg per day. My last 5 HbA1Cs are below 6. This is because of the LCHF diet. I got lot of help from the Internet communities like HU and lot of people to support me online and offline. because of these communities I was able to control my BS to such an extent.

At World Diabetes day today, I would like to thank each one of you for being part of my journey and to help me in every case I raised in HU forum. May we all help each other with our experience to keep our BS in control and stay healthy. Thank you!

Thanks India1990 for sharing with this forum your journey of health and diabetes conditions. You have done so well with BSL control based on recent A1C records. Keep up the good work with your current interventions both lifestyle and medication. Hopefully you will be soon able to cut down MF dose and eventually stop it. Many young or older diabetics on this forum are drug-free. Good luck

You have to control diabetes. That's all

Keep it up Indian1990. Take care of your health. I am a chronic diabetic from my 27th age and I am now 66. I had also underwent heart bypass at the age of 42 and I suffered from diabetic retinopathy.

But I am under control with tablets no injection. Take much care in your diet.

I am a vegetarian all my life.

Please can you share some meal ideas?

Many thanks
