Can diabetics eat peanuts?
Hi JessicaPeter ,
If a person has a peanut allergy, then they shouldn't eat peanuts. Most people-- even if they aren't diabetic, can eat peanuts, though.
Yes, diabetics can eat peanuts as long as carb is included in the daily allowance. It is a good source of vegetarian protein at low carb. Allergy issue, if any , should be considered as mentioned above by Activity2004.
Diabetics are advised in general to eat nuts like almonds, pistachios, peanuts etc. They have very low carbs and hence can be safely taken by diabetics unless you have some allergy for nuts. Ground nuts(orpeanuts) have carbs of 1gm per 5 grams of nuts, a typical serving measure. They supplement as proteins especially for vegetarians. I eat them as mid- morning snack and evening snack. But one has to include this in the total carb intake. However, they have lot of calories and hence, one should be careful about the quantity especially by those who are worried about weight gain. 5 gms of peanuts will add 50 cals in your diet.
Yes, small quantity
