Reversing diabetes is a controversial subject .General consensus is that since it is a metabolic disorder and it can only be managed within reference range. Some claim that with diets like LCHF or long wheat, sugar levels can be brought to non-diabetic range and therefore may be treated as reversed.Only an OGTT can confirm that claim. However,I think we should keep that discussion aside and focus on effective control. For lipid management,we can rely on the same measure that we adopt for diabetes control.particularly diet control.Easier way is to depend on statin drugs, which again is a controversial subject.

I was also confused by the term REVERSAL. Seems that terminolagy is fake! In reality its remmission or in plain terms in good control. Once we have a permanent cure, then it can be called reversal.

Hi. I am also 35 years old and was diagnosed with diabetes in Nov 2015. My levels were alarming. 525 pp, 330 fasting and 14 HBA1C. I was 105 kgs. 350 cholesterol.

Currently, My HBA1C is stable between 5.2-5.6 since June 2016. Cholesterol between 125-150 and I lost 37 kgs to come down to 68 kgs, though in last 6 month I have gained back some weight because of increased TSH levels and not able to walk as much because of plantar fasciitis.

My take on reversing diabetes is, it can be managed very well and you can even enjoy good food including sweets. But reversing is not possible. Yes, there are many yoga asanas which will help you strengthen your pancreas and increase metabolic rate. Walk for long and good diabetic friendly diet is the key. So in long term can cheat once in a while and it will not reflect in ur HBA1C. But lifestyle change has to be permanent.

I tried the long wheat diet for more than 6 months and failed. High fibre, high protein, low fat (eat good fats as in nuts, extra virgin oils, cow ghee, but in moderation) and complex carb diet is the key. Walk 10k steps daily without fail and exercise a bit.

My HDL at one point was 22 now it revolves around 40 (+-5). To increase HDL eat healthy fats and DO NOT eat unhealthy fats. Walk and Excercise. This would help. Remember there is no shortcut, only a dedicated lifestyle change which will help.

Hope this helps.

Congratulations, patty82 on your achievements. I fully agree with you reversing means keeping the blood sugar level like non-diabetic without any medications. One can not go back to eating unlimited amount of carbs. and still maintain those numbers.

3 diet changes to help lower cholesterol levels

If you have high cholesterol (a total cholesterol level of 240 milligrams per deciliter of blood or above), taking steps to lower it can greatly reduce your chances of having a heart attack. For every 10% drop in your cholesterol level, your heart attack risk falls by 20% to 30%.

Healthy Eating for a Healthy Heart Despite major advances in drugs and medical treatments, maintaining a healthy diet, being physically active, and not smoking are still the best approaches to preventing heart disease. Improving your diet lowers your risk for heart disease in many ways, including helping to lower high cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar and insulin levels, as well as preventing obesity and improving the function of your heart and blood vessels. Fortunately, a heart-healthy diet is relatively easy to define, and you don’t have to give up great-tasting food to eat for your heart.

There are several steps you can take to lower your cholesterol level, like losing weight if needed, being more active, and choosing healthy foods. Here are three simple steps toward a healthier, cholesterol-lowering diet:

Choose healthy fats. Avoid saturated fats, which increase unhealthy LDL levels, and steer clear of trans fats, which both raise LDL and lower protective HDL. Instead, substitute healthier unsaturated fats found in fish, nuts, and vegetable oils.

Go with whole grains. Whole-grain breads, pastas, and cereals help prevent a blood sugar roller coaster and make you feel full longer. Many of these foods contain fiber, which can help lower LDL levels.

Make other healthy choices. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Ideally, substitute these for processed foods and sweets. Choose fat-free milk instead of whole milk. Opt for low-fat yogurt and pick brands that are not loaded with sugar.

If lifestyle changes don't get your cholesterol to a healthy level, ask your doctor if a cholesterol-lowering drug makes sense for you.

Yes you can reverse Diabetes but for this you need to stop consuming milk in any form(tea, coffee, plan milk, paneer, curd etc...)for a fairly long period of time(may be 3 years) and as you stop consuming dairy products then you need Vitamin B12 supplement may be weekly twice. Also you have to adopt vegan diet(Drink Smoothies in morning and evening, take rainbow salads before lunch and dinner) and do 30 min of strength exercise + 30 min kapalbhati pranayam followed by 20 min Anulom Vilom pranayam.

Your muscles should increase so that they can absord more glucose, for this only you have to do strength exercise(gym for weight lifting) 5 days a week.

Check for fatty lever test and you must be holding fat inside lever and pancreas if you are T2DM.

So once you start above thing your body starts burning fat and will remove 1gm fat from pancreas which caused you T2DM.

The most important thing is you have to eat 3-4 times and do not eat in the middle of each meal as if we do snacking this causes bloatness and insulin spike.

This is a long time process may take 6 months to 3 years to clear GTT.

Make sure muscle percentage is more than 32%.

All the best.
