I have no idea about this question, but I wonder why you are thinking of injecting 2 1/2 times the quantity of liquid to get the same number of units? What are the advantages of 40u/ml as against 100u/ml?I am taking 32 units/day of 50/50 of 100u/ml.

IU/ml stands for International Units per milliliter. Insulin is available in two strengths: s 40 IU/ml, which means that each milliliter contains 40 units of insulin and 100 IU/ml, which means that each milliliter contains 100 units of insulin. You can see that an insulin containing 100 units per milliliter is more concentrated than one containing 40 units per milliliter. In the U.S. most insulin comes in a concentration of 100 units per millimeter.

Mr Gangadharan Nair is right. You can use either the 100 IU/ml or 40IU/ml ( ie the concentrated version or diluted version based on the ease of availability at your place) However use the important point is that you need to use the appropriate needle. Orange is for 100IU/ml while Red is for 40 IU/ml. The maximum mark on 100 IU/ml is 100 while in the other it is 40.It is only the quantity DRAWN in either of the strengths. the 30/70 ratio does not get altered or the dosage you have been taking.
