Per Doctors advice, I am going to stay away from B12 for the next 2 months.
There was one other posting about my test results titled
"Followed LCHF sincerely and happy about my numbers
"
I thank every one for their kind words of encouragement.
I am going to update by giving some more results to that as well. I need some time.
I am going to update the response there too with my test results (done on 19th Oct) subsequent to my visit to Endocronologist shortly please.
One other 'out of Whack' item was my Thyroid.
My TSH was .0.394 (standard seems to be .450 to 4.5 ulU/ML)
My Free T4 was 1.85 ng/DL (standard seems to be .82 to 1.77)
The Doc reduced my daily concumption of Levothyroxin (thyronorm) from 100 mg / day to 88 mg/day.
I will update the other thread with my Diet pattern after 2 days, as I have a travel coming up.
I have faith in LCHF and I followed as much as I can.
One important information that was missing in my previous posting was that my A1c was 6.5 (this test was done only on 19th Oct when I visited Doctors office through a prick).
I was hoping this to show up <6.
Too greedy.
Doctor said "You are getting there. You are NOT THERE YET".
Thanks and regards to every one for their valuable input / guidance.
1. Actual result of my B12 test carried out on 19th October was 2000 pg/mL
(Standard range seems to be 211 - 946 pg / mL).
Also, the same reading some time in October 2015 was 1345. Hence there has been a consistent elevated reading. (Of course I was not following LCHF sincerely at that time - although I was NOT away from it either )
Same way, my Thyroid has been out of range too.
2. Based on the reading showed up on 19th Octber, the Endocranologist advised me to stay away from B12 for the next 2 months.
(Let me add that I have been consuming one B12 tablet daily in addition to Centrum (which also has 6 mcg of B12).
3. Is there a relation between Thyroid and B12 ?
The answer is
"He did not say any thing about this. Nor did I ask him that question". I can double chek if you are keen. I have requested the Doc to call me for some questions.
4. With a 5.7 A1c, my SALUTES to you SUPER MAN....... You are the man I am looking for.
However I have a question to you. Are you over-weight by any chance for your height of 165 cm?
Seems like you mentioned the weight as 180 lbs in another post couple of day ago, if I am right.
I am 5'6" and 65 years age. My weight currently is 63 KGs.
Never had a big tummy and remained slim.
If my reading of 180 lbs (your #) was wrong, pls ignore this question sir.
5. Can A1c be tested on prick ? The answer is YES, per what I heard from the Doc in the Hospital I visit that has a big Endo department.
You may recall the readings I posted few days ago in this forum.
Those readings were the lab work done "PRIOR TO the SCHEDULED DOCTOR's VISIT on 19th Oct".
Based on the previous visit (July 2016), the Doc ordered some labwork to go through (prior to the visit on 19th) which I posted earlier.
These B12 and Thyroid lab tests were ordered by the DOC on 19th and the results were announced on21st.
Now, getting back to the A1c test,
Per the required practice, I am supposed to provide them the Glucometer (I use ACCUCHECK Nano) whenever I visit Doctors office.
The nurse attendant, after going through initial routines, collects the Glucometer and then downloads the readings in the last 3 months in a graph (with date/time and readings).
She did a PRICK and said she will come back with A1c.
I observed this practice in the last year only, not prior to that.
Seems like the prick downloads into another graph instantaneously into a smaller report that shows the A1c per my understanding.
I can double check by calling that attendant again, if you are keen.
Hope I answered your question.
Again, HATS off to youfor your A1C number. I envy you.
If I may add, one of my friend (of your age) advised me to watch a VINTAGE serial "LUCY" 1960s (that is telecast for 3 hours from 5 am to 8 am .......30 minutes episodes - all 7 days a week).
I watch from 6 am.
I would say this helps, in a way, to start the day with more smiles I guess.
If you can (if you like) you may watch some good vintage comedies / and good melody music as well.
Please feel free to send your questions.
I am trying to put together my DIET pattern to answer one other query from another gentleman few days ago.
I am basically a veggie guy all my life, with the exception of Egg when I travel.
My sincere thanks to all valuable contributors including special Anup singji...Grateful to all.
I forgot to add one other info in my previous mail.
My A1c showed up as 6.5.
Little disappointed though.
Mainly because my Fasting numbers consistently stayed less than 100 almost 3 months.
But there was some spike in PP reading on some days showing up more than 200 also, that I immediately controlled through an Ayurvedic pill "Madhunashini Vati".
This occurred a few times only, not a lot though.
Hence the reading was 6.5, I guess.
My wife gave me a C grade and did n't even consider giving be a B grade (leave alone A).
Glad to note that you were benefited (may be little bit) from my comments.
I am sending you my email address.
However, I am little skeptical about my capability to Guide others, despite the fact that I have been a diabetic for 3 decades.
Just for info.
I am not as good as many other PUNDITs like Anupji .............. cure...George ji........ Shashikanth Iyngr and so on, on and on and many others who are very good in perseverance, knowledge and stay focused etc etc.
I tend to go astray, some times, in food intakes due to travel etc and not able to keep up with the requirements. No excuse though.
Hats off to great guys in this forum:
MY A1C HAS CONTINUED TO REMAIN IN GOOD RANGE (if not the best)...... its purely due to the influence of going through the this forum.
CRAVE FOR THE FOOD HAS COME DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY.
Now I can just go to bed with just 1 Chapathi and a cup of dhal with a good night sleep (this was not possible earlier)
I just give out my numbers and hope for the best.
(my wife's statement about my participation in this good forum).
I am just a Mediocre guy.
With that said, one last word. even if you send any emails, please do NOT expect feed back right away as I tend to check mails once in 2 or 3 days.
I am grateful to all contributors..... God bless all of them and us.
