Diabetes and high blood pressure . . . .

Is there an association between diabetes and high blood pressure - or a known correlation?

High blood pressure can be reduced by many drugs, including anti-hypertensive agents in the sub-group known as angiotensin type II receptor blockers.  One drug in this sub-group is olmesartan, available as a generic from various manufacturers including Cipla and Dr Reddy's.

Does any one have experience of using this, olmesartan ? ? ?  Any feedback on experience gratefully received.

Best wishes,

Sid Arthur

Anup ji, what were your BP numbers before and after switching to LCHF diet?

Correct me if I am wrong, during your keto trials, your FBS too increased by about 10 mg/dl. Why so?

As i have posted earlier that i m on LCHF since 10/02/16 and my sugar level is extremely under control with one and half tablets one morning and half evening. But my BP level is now 70-80/115-130 without any tablet whereas i was taking a tablet for last about 10 years. Hence my BP has been improved tremendously in this way. After this diet i have never feel gastric problem which was earlier always irritate me. My wife was also taking BP tablet 'Amlotec 80" and she is not diabetic. She is taking meal with me and reduced small amount of carb. Now her BP is around 65-75/110-125 (without taking tablet).  I have seen these wonder in few days and hopeful that i will also be free of diabetic  medication in some time. Thanx to everybody on this forum.

By the way, you are one of that rare breed of Indoris that can control their eating. :)

Anup

it's not easy to adopt lchf diet. The idea of low fat has been deeply rooted in the minds of everybody. So if you insist to switch to high fat diet first resistance comes from the family members. They have been so strongly taught about high fat diet leading to high cholesterol leading to cvd and heart attack that they try to resist lchf diet. Many families are using cholesterol free oil and products and nonstick cookwares so that less oil is consumed.

Also coconut oil is used more in south. Most parts of india use other oils. Ground nut oil is widely used all over india. Coconut oil tastes sweeter than other oils. This requires adoption a change in your taste.

I have mentioned a few practical problems which many of us would be facing. Sometimes a separate khana needs to be prepared for us. Many of us may have to take their food outside.

But lchf diet and using mct is a wonderful concept accepted by science. I wish the food habits of entire society changes in favour of lchf diet. Not just for diabetics.

Sounds like the thread I started has got your thoughts reeling.  Greeeeeaaat ! ! !  No issue with discussing varying points of view . . . . . . and see a range of sensible, hopefully evidence based, opinions . . . . . on the complex subject of health, each with its strength (to be confirmed) and weaknesses (  - to be refuted by appropriate evidence).

I hope you are not having trouble sleeping . . . . . one important function of improving & maintaining good health that none of us can do without - and, in its own way, . . . . . as important as any nutritional aspect.

More later, . . . . for now, thanks for all your considered input.

S.A. ;~)
