First of all do not panic manika! OK? Did your father consult a doctor? If yes, what does the doctor say? HBA1C greater than 7 indicates the person has diabetese. 2 years ago I had my first HbA1c test, and the reading was 10.7. I consulted the doctor and he told me that I am diabetic since at least one year. I am now on medication since November 2013. No problem now. I am male, age 74 years. So Relax manika and consult a doctor. Best regards to you and your father.
Certainly HbA1c is at a very danger level to affect different organs of body,if not controlled. It is to be managed by multilevel approach i.e.-a)Medicine including insulin,b)Diet and c)Walking at least fore 1/2 hr.daily.
For medicine you should be fortunate enough to get a good doctor.s far as diet is concerned, you may get in touch with a good dieticianOR you can record you sugar level daily at fasting, after 11/2 to 2 hrs of B.fast, after lunch and dinner and record the diet you are taking every time.Carry at least for a week and see what is best suitable for you.Set the target for HbA1c as less than or equal to 7max.From Internet you can get corresponding level of HbA1C for sugar readings.Follw the doctors instruction care fully and timely for all medicines.
I don't know how old is diabetese, keep checking eyes, creatinine level and Lipid profile regularly.
