Hba1c of 8.8 is too high. Aim for Hba1c <6.5 as first step and then <5.7 forever to avoid future complications. We can not comment on your medication, suggest to consult your doctor.

Please review your diet. Consider following Low carb diet. If you can let us know what is your current diet on a typical day, we may be able to suggest you if you need some change in order to improve the condition. At the same time, you should discuss about medications with your Doctor.

Also please provide fasting blood sugar and 2-hr post-meal sugar numbers.

Medicines are not the answer. Too high a1c. Please take care. Carbs are causing this. You got to remove as much carbs from your food as possible.

Dianorm total 60 consists of Gliclazide 60 MG+Metformin 500 MG+Pioglitazone 15 MG. In Mar 21, 2016 - A gazette notification by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has banned over 300 medicines of fixed drug combinations which includes Gliclazide + Metformin + Pioglitazone.

Pioglitazone is indicated as a risk factor for cardiac ischemic events and bladder cancer.

Insulin is free from side effects. You should also concentrate daily checking of fasting blood sugar, reduction of carbohydrate in your diet and proper daily exercise.

walking, walking, and walking and avoid carbo hydrates and sugar. I do not think that you have to go for insulin. Consult your doctor.
