Hi mottu123
I too, had some problem starting on LCHF. But what I do now, is this. I reduce the quantity of my serving of whatever the family has for breakfast / lunch/ dinner to half of what I used to have. Then I add a spoon of ghee in its place. If it is Dosa, I mix in chick pea flour into the batter for my Dosa do that it is two parts besan to one part conventional Dosa batter. I Add chopped chillies, grated ginger, green coriander and onions and make a nice ghee Dosa. I have just one, and tea. Morning starts with a veg smoothie of ivy gourd.
I add I tablespoon of flax seeds ground in my coffee grinder to whatever breakfast I have. The ground quantity is more than 1 spoon. I add ghee to puttu, besides the flax and sometimes, powdered cinnamon.
Lunch. I use the millet chama, which is very much like rice and have 2 tablespoons of that with ghee and a heap of vegetables. This would be non starchy vegetables cooked with or without coconut. Common veggies we use from our yard include amaranth leaves, ivy gourd , Banana flower, stem, raw papaya, green beans of all sorts, bhindi, brinjal, etc. Rasam, buttermilk, etc can be drunk too, if you desire.
Dhokla may be good, if made with chick pea flour?
Dinner, I have one chapathi with vegetable curry.
This vegetarianism is due to the fact that we are on a fast till Easter. But it reduced my blood sugar to eat this way. I think I may be able to replace a little of the veg with egg or meat/ fish.
Easiest way is to reduce portion sizes of your main dish which is bound to be full of carbs. Eg. Chapathi, rice, Upma, idli, Dosa. Eat eggs or non starchy vegs, fish or meat. Best to avoid processed meats. Adding ghee will make you feel full . Add a handful of roasted groundnuts to Upma. It will take longer to chew and will also fill you up.
Vegetarians can eat dishes like Rasa Vada ( split chick pea vada soaked in Rasam) or the Vada itself with lunch. Chundal, which is a favourite of Tamil Nadu is tasty and filling. This is a chick pea dish and the recipe is sure to be on the Net.
Be sure to soak chick peas and discard the water. Cook with a little soda bi carb to prevent intestinal discomfort and bloating.
I am only experimenting. is
