I AM DIABETIC AND ON INSULIN .THE SUGAR IS UNDER CONTROL WITH INSULIN AND DIET .THE hBA1C REMAINS ABOUT 6 -6.2 . BUT MY KIDNEY FUNCTION IS AFFECTED .AT PRESENT THE CREATININE LEVEL IS 2.4 . IS THERE ANYWAY TO MAINTAIN THIS LEVEL OR IMPROVE KIDNEY FUNCTION .MY PROTEIN INTAKE IS RESTRICTED .I AM 77 + .

Yes hypertension combined with D2 &insulin is the root cause,of ckd.
Hypertension is inevitable in such conditions.Recently new guidelines have been issued named JNC8,which has recommended target of150/90 for adults who are 60 or above,and younger with diabetes or kidney diseases as 140/90,which has drawn criticism ,earlier JNC7 has recommended targets for adults 140/90 and 130/80 who has problem of kidney.In my opinion both are vague.Safe range is115/79 or less who have diabetes or kidney problems .
Also pulse pressure play a role in renal problems,it should not be more than40(Systolic-Diastolic)
