LIPID AND OTHER TESTS AFTER 3 MONTHS LCHF.

Dear Friends,

some of you have helped me earlier during my first post ( Please refre my earlier email)

I just completed my 3 month LCHF and next week will go for medical check up including HBA1C. I expect my A1c between 6 and 7.

My question here is what all tests I should ask my doctor to conduct other than BHA1 C and HDL,LDL, VDL and so on.

How to conclude if my body is not producing enough insulin or not using insulation properly. what is that test which gives me this answer?

Also quite often I feel gassy and bloated on LCHF. Any similar experience ? any suggestion?

dear lchf fan., i think lipid profiles and hb1ac should be ok. as far as insuln tests are concerned doctor himself is the best authority to suggest type opf tersts after you tell him your doubts. dont tell him about lchf., as he may or not like it.

2. as far as gassy and bloated feeling is concerned it is common if we take more carbs. but if you reduced carbs and still feeling like that.,m reduce butter a liitle bit. when i consumed more butter than required i too felt the same, and take any laxative. it should help. regards.

Hi LCHF FAN

Being an LCHF dieter you should be knowing that any reply contradicting the conventional wisdom will be opposed by many .However, I want to reproduce a famous quote here :

"Any amount of theory , however pertinent they are , can not eradicate the existence of facts"

And the fact is : standard lipid profile test reveal very little about cardiac risk factor . Advanced research findings including those of American Heart Association and Lady Hardinge Medical college , New Delhi state that the most important cardiac risk marker is the ratio of apoB to apo A1 , two structural proteinsin the blood stream .apo B signifies the small dense atherogenic particles and apoA1 ,the large buoyant anti-atherogenic particles. The reference range for this ratio is 0.35 to 1.0

With standard lipid panel you should check apo B levels. Standard lipid panel is less useful in assessing CAD.

To know how much insulin you are producing need the c-peptide test.

And insulin resistance can be calculated from homa R formula. (FBS and fasting insulin values needed).

If you are eating higher quantity of fiber then there is possibility of bloating.
