I have been practicing yoga in the morning and walk in the evening for the last 10 years besides taking metformin+glimipride combination. Diet (strictly vegetarian) is under control except for occasional variations. Still, my blood sugar (type 2) is not under control. Any suggestions for improvement?

Check your vitamin D levels. In recent times many Indians are low in vitamin D.further there is good evidence can help control type II diabeties. Please supplement vitamin D along with calcium
Without proof and detailed enquiry, Sree 46, I hypothetically call your situation a case of over medication! Since 2005 I have brought my A1C to below 6.4% without drugs. Twice it was from over 11%. This time only after it came to 6.0% from peak of 11.6% in January, did I take Metformin (August 2014) before a party meal.
Yoga may perhaps help as much as Homeopathy does i.e. benefit within placebo range.
The secret to managing blood glucose for both Type I & Type II may be restriction of carb intake. In the past decade LCHF is gasining favor in Canada, Ireland, Sweden and even US.
[Yes, you have to look at hormones, vitamin and mineral dimension including Vitamin D, K1, K2 etcetera]
