well as Medfree said LCHF diet works just cut down the carbs to 100g daily limit in matter of time you see the difference and adding one more thing keep checking the sugar levels regularly its very important ! two things will change the way we see the diabetics .

Some people, like me, cannot even have 100 g. of carbs per day. I shoot for 20. If I go over then my blood sugar spikes. Looking for additional options besides just dietary control.

i understand if this the case in this forum there are many with expert advice and as you know its a life long changes so it better be something doable for a longer run cutting carbs to 20g seems tough unless you be on non-veg diet throughout the day , Meds / insulin and low carb food is the way out , it would been a help if u would have updated the meals / meds you are on so that others can suggest you better , won't try to tell you about exercises and Ayurveda / herbs do have some impact which im sure you must have already tried or know about !.

Cut carbs by only eating low carb, healthy vegetables and eat fat. I have never felt weak or tired by eating low carb/high fat. In fact, it's been just the opposite. Blood sugar is cured, along with a number of other problems. It is true that the US govt recommendations are very off-base and that is why Americans keep getting fatter and less healthy. It's tragic.

I gave up all grains, all legumes, all beans, and most importantly all sweeteners, including artificial and so-called healthy ones. They only thing I eat that is sweet is a few berries - I had to learn to like them without added sweeteners but now I prefer them!!

M'am,

Please do 2 things in addition to your medicines. One is adequate exercise. The other is to change the quality of food. For example, I found that corn flakes, Corn, Suji raise BS at Break Fast. I take only either Oat or Dalia. This helps a lot. Not more than 1 chapati at any meal. Legumes are OK but not carb like more than 1 chapati, no rice, no idly, no dosa, no bread. These so called brown bread are no good as their colour is brown but they are not full wheat bread. I had asked a baker why they do not make full wheat bread. He told that the shelf life of a full wheat bread is low. No carb or only low carb after 6 PM. You may take milk at bed time.

I have experienced this time and again that these raise BS.

Then do not stick to 3 meals regime such as Break Fast, Lunch and Dinner only . Shift to 5 meals. i.e.add tea, etc. snacks or fruit at 11AM, and 5 PM, but reduce your intake at the three conventional meals. You have to measure your BS with glucometer time and again to see the result. Always take two readings- one before meals and other after 2 hours for comparison.

Do try and let us know the results after 1 week.

There is way by switching your diet to low carb high fat diet. It will reduce your drugs and improve BS.

Post your details about BS levels, lipids, diet and medications.

You got a valid point.

For energy reduced, high carbohydrate d,low protein, low fat (HC)Diet is the traditional dietary approach for type 2 diabetes( T2DM) management. However evidence shows dietary carbohydrate elicits greater postprandial glucose response( PPG) compared with fat or protein, which independently suppress this response. This has increased interest and use of very low carbohydrates diets(lc,20-70gm.carbohydrates per day) that are also high in protein and fat for diabetes management.
