Medicines are prescribed by a qualified doctor after taking a comprehensive view of your health condition. You cannot seek advise on a forum like this regarding medicines and their dosages.Diabetic drugs are powerful and could be dangerous if not handled professionally.

Zoryl M1 consists of two drug combinations viz., glimepiride + metformin. This widely prescribed anti-diabetic medication in India. It is affordable and effective. Side effects: frequent hypoglycemia.

Glimepiride is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally.

Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.

Fasting blood sugar must be less than 100 mg/dL.

The problem may be due to intake of more carbohydrate food during dinner.

Do not Consume food after sunset. This is because minimum energy is needed during sleep.

Walk for 15 minutes after every meal.

Please consult your doctor before you change the medication and/or dosage. It’s not safe to change anything that you need for controlling your blood sugars without having your doctor involved in the decision, first.

Dear Abhigyan ,besides the medicines diet plays a game changer for a diabetic so do not depend on medicines alone but try to bring about changes in your life style like exercising /walking/yoga/gym etc with major changes in your dietary habits. Find out about LCHF diet here and on the internet and start by reducing carbohydrates like wheat, rice ,grains etc.,to about 100 gms./day and compensating this reduction by increasing green veggies ,eggs, good fats like ghee ,butter, cheese and moderate increase in protein .Please go through old/new posts of different members on this site about LCHF diet and develop a low carb menu that suits you best and also develop a habit of monitoring your blood sugar at home frequently as you are changing your diet. Good luck !

Great advice by osho1410 . Just one suggestion. 100 mg carbs per day is the upper limit for Diabetics. One should take carbs as low as possible. Carbs are just a source of energy and not compulsary for our life.

Good luck.

Excellent advice from osho1410 and suramo. Many diabetics tend to rely on medication or insulin to bring down their blood sugar. However, we're required to make some changes in our diet and maintain healthy lifestyle. The truth is we all have to make it happen along with some consultation from medical doctors. Low carb diet is best for diabetics in which you should try. All the best πŸ˜„

100 gram carb means 5 chapati @ 20 gm each can be consumed in Lunch & dinner if I don't eat Rice and is it uper limit for a day pl advice Recently I am diognised as pre diabitic my fasting was 112 & 153 ( 2 hours after lunch)

For non-vegetarian, it's good to have some animal protein along with carb foods. If you're vegetarian, paneer is excellent source of protein and calcium. Legumes are also good but in small quantities as they contain carbs but less than rice and grains. Include non-root vegetables, some tree nuts and good natural fats eg olive/coconut oil, ghee and butter. All dairy products should be full cream as low fat dairy contain more sugar.

Carbs reduction in each meals is crucial. In order to make up 100 grams carbs per day for LCHF (if you wish to do), you need to eat less carb food like less chapati or rice then include low carb food like non-root veggies and proteins. Keep track with whatever you eat so that you can adjust your meals.

No, it is not that simple ,jpparikh , 😎 100 gm. carb /day includes total amount of carb in all the food you eat during the day e.g. the daal , veggies you eat with chapati or the toast you have in breakfast ,or any fruit or snacks you have during the day all have carbohydrates in varying amounts , so you have to be aware of carb content of everything you eat normally and make a list of low carb veggies/fruits and also different millets and grains etc. All this is available on net in different health sites e.g. dietdoctor.com/low-carb ,so do your own research to find what suits you best . Good luck !

A 3 month programme for almost permanent recovery of Diabetes (if Type-2) is being practiced by many people and with excellent results.

1. Use only Coconut Oil or Olive Oil or Butter (pure as far as possible) - in total use any one or combination of these in your food preparation - should consume 75g/ day- Not more. (Note: Oils oil is not to be used for frying or any such heat required food making. - a must

2. Consume - 3 lemons Juice per Day. any means like dilute with water or verrrry little use of yogurt (just 2 spoons) and lot of water (say 2 spoons of yogurt make it to 1 litre by adding water and squeeze the lemons 1 each time) i.e. consume about 3 litres per day - a must.

3. if you are Non-vegetarian consume - Maximum 250g of either or combination of Fish or meat or chicken or pork etc. but SHOULD NOT be eaten mixing with rice etc. So any such item can be marinated with little salt (USE only powdered rock salt or best Himalayan salt), ginger paste, garlic paste, little chilli powder, turmeric, and home made masala powder (never ever use the ready made purchased masala powder- as you do not have control of its purity). keep aside for 1 or 2 hours (must) and then slowly fry by using any of the above mentioned oils (except olive oil as you would be heating up) again this oils must be within 75g limit per day and then eat.

4. if Vegetarians : Except (POTATO, bing.com/images/search?view..., bing.com/images/search?view..., SWEET POTATO, )

I do not know some names of the high carb sourced things so giving the 2 URLs. Except the above you can mostly consider any vegetable to eat any amount but there is a limit, I will tell at the end. and another thing (SHOULD NOT USE ANY BEANS OR ANY SUCH BEANS BASED VEGETABLES). So use the vegetables in any form and any variety of simple curry making the way you want. and should be again eaten without mixing with any rice or such thing.

5. No yogurt (except that 2 spoons, if you can avoid even this its fine) at all.

6. Consider making vegetable soup and keep drinking through out the day (sipping often).

7. NO rice/wheat/brown rice/millets/ etc. etc. in this 3 months. a BIG NOOOOOOOO.

8. except those quantitative limits mentioned for oils/fats (75g/day and non-veg 250g/day) there is no limit for other items BUT...a BIG natural limit for these items is EAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY AND JUST TO COUNTER THE HUNGER NOT STOMACK FULL. this is the limit. In fact eating when we are not hunger WAS and IS the BIGGEST CULPRIT OF ALL DISEASES OR PROBLEMS of body health.

9. Never take more than 1 tomato/day, 1 carrot/day. - but if you can avoid them its best.

10. Never use tamarind

11. if you do the above diet programme for 3 months its now proved by many people that the Type 2 diabetes has been fully reversed. (as long as their beta cells are not damaged). Many good Side effects of this programme are Relief from many other long term problems like Spondilitis, thyroid, heart issues are getting cured or relieving trend.

I started doing this programme.

by the way after 3 months (only when you strictly followed it) you can come back to your normal dieting. I mean no restrictions on any item or quantity. but the only RULE IS EAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY AND JUST TO COUNTER THE HUNGER but NOT STOMACK FULL.

Good tips. Just a few things I'd like to know.

1) Why 75g fats limit? Why not use these oils for frying?

2) By the word " permanent recovery ", do you mean cure?

3) Isn't 250g nonveg food too high?

4) Why 1 tomato per day is the limit?

5) Why "never" to tamarind ?

6) "If you do the above diet programme for 3 months, it's now proved by many people that the Type 2 diabetes has been fully reversed."

"By the way, after 3 months (only when you strictly followed it) you can come back to your normal dieting. I mean no restrictions on any item or quantity."

Sounds as if type 2 diabetes is gone and can eat anything and everything. Just eat when hungry. So one can eat rice, wheat, potatoes, etc.?

Thank you for your response.

Hi Suramo,

Thanks for the queries you raised. here are the answers or opinions on the queries.

1) Why 75g fats limit?

Answer: 75g oil fats (not food fats, i.e. you should not consider or count the fat portion in, say eggs). The limit was announced by those who practiced for quite some time and based on observations only. I still find time to research on this quantity, frankly. Having said that, a broad calculation i made based on 2000 cal/day/ for women and 2500 cal/day for men.

then 75g of oil fat add up to 675 cals/day. the balance should be added with other items mentioned but totalling should be less than 2000 and 2500 mark, to lose weight. Especially belly fat. Coconut oil is the best to get reduced hunger, increase metabolism and reduce belly fat.

Why not use these oils for frying?

Answer: almost all oils when heated, once they reach the smoking point temperature, the acids in the oil become trans-fatty acids, which are very dangerous. In case of Olive oil (virgin), the smoking point temperature is low, and thus not good for frying. Though Olive (extra light) has high smoking point, but for the purpose of weight reduction and health nutrients point of view it is not a good option. So, considering a balance of benefits that we require using extra virgin olive oil mostly for dressing purposes or just a saucing heat purposes will be OK.

2) By the word " permanent recovery ", do you mean cure?

Answer: Yes, in many cases, provided the beta-cells in pancreas are not damaged. (sorry.. i am not a Doctor, but this based on experienced persons, with such health condition)

3) Isn't 250g nonveg food too high?

Answer: as we are not adding any other item with it (for counting purpose), its not high. Calorie wise 1g (cooked chicken) = 1 cal. So, 250g of non-veg is not high.

4) Why 1 tomato per day is the limit?

answer : Not sure from my side. May be because we should not take any sugar at all in this programme, and many people like Tomatos usage. the restrictions is made as it contain sugar.

5) Why "never" to tamarind ?

answer: not sure again. But may be because, in general tamarind will increase appetite, and in this program we are trying to reduce calories and appetite.

Answer: Yes. as per the expected results of the programme. having said that, again the limits of HUNGER is the Key, form then on wards. If you it without limits, then back to the square one. The basic reason one got diabetes (type-2) is something wrong with the food eating habits. Diabetes is the symptom of the wrong doing. we are trying to go back to normal first, and then trying to adopt new life style of food habits as mentioned above by few members.

---------------------- ----------

All said and done, the programme mentioned is almost a sort of "ketogenic diet", i.e. tuning the metabolism and making the body to use the stored 'fat" for the energy, and thus body fat will be reduced. If body fat (especially belly fat and the fat accumulated in Liver and Pancreas) is reduced, the insulin resistance is "gone" - Type-2 DM.

BUT, as the insulin resistance due to fat accumulation at liver and pancreas was once occurred in the body, (though we removed it by above programme), and if we go back to our uncontrolled food habits, then because of the body's tendency to accumulate fat at unwanted places, may recur.

So, once we get rid of fat first and then on wards, should make sure it will not occur again to have good health and can eat whatever we wished, but with controlled manner.

Thanks you responded.

1) 675 Calories from fat. So rest will be from carbs and proteins. 56% of dietary protein is converted to glucose and @14% to glycogen as per body requirement. So again major part of calories from carbs which we can't metabolise / utilize. Protein is recommended at .8g / kg body wt. Athletes and those doing vigorous exercises can take upto 1.5 g / kg. Higher protein is not recommended. Read for mtor system and leaky gut. Also refer to ketogenic ratio.

2) In type 2 beta cells are not damaged but our body develops IR. Type 2 have genetic defect which can't be removed. So there is no cure for type 2. We are hyperinsulinemic.

3) 250 g meat / chicken @30% /75 g proteins. Too high. But fair enough. Do exercise and take. Costly too.

4) tomatoes should be taken in moderation. 1-2-3 per day may not harm. Yes market preparations to be avoided.

5) tamarind is good for alimentary tract. No harm.

6)No. Reversed right. But only if you control carbs intake will that reversal sustain. No limit to eating high fat low carb diet. Our basic defect is not cured / removed. The proportion of c : p : f ::20:20:60 or keto range 3-4:1 ketogenic ratio. Carbs maximum limits 100 g per day. Lesser the better. No to rapid sugars. No to high gi gl foods. And these for lifetime.

____________________________________

But why fat accumulates in t2d people and not all very obese people ? All obese fat accumulating people are not diabetic. The reason is high insulin levels in us to overcome IR naturally. Carbs that we can not utilized gets converted into fats in the presence of high insulin. Also high insulin levels prevent lipolysis. And carbs give the highest insulin response, fats minimal and proteins inbetween. So less carbs and proteins in diet promote lipolysis.

Please refer to the video.
