Fructose and Glucose are isomers. Having same molecular formula but differing in structure of spacial arrangement of atoms.

Fructose is metabolized through liver and glucose by normal digestive system in our body. Fructose on metabolism gets converted to triglyceride, which causes acidity, insomnia and higher blood pressure. So limitation of fructose is advised. Kindly note that, it is only " An Apple A Day, Keeps Doctor Away" and not "10 apples a day keeps 10 doctors away".

Sucrose has got equal composition of Glucose and Fructose. This also tells us that we have to limit intake of sucrose (refined sugar) because consumption of more sucrose leads to high fructose in-take.

Fructose cannot be consumed as sweetener. Since fructose is metabolized through liver, its glycemic value is low. This does not voucher for diabetes patients.

For diabetes patients it is recommended to follow insulin index rather than glycemic index.

Naturally occurring fructose is always associated with high fibrous carbohydrates.

This is what made us to take more soft-drinks and oats. Showing that we are living close to nature. in fact both are bad for health.

As far as I know diabetics shall not consume glucose or fructose unless they are under a hyoiglecemia, and only for that occassion.

VJK Nair, diabetic for 27 years.

Fructose is a simple sugar just like our Glucose. Both are utilized for energy production in the Liver cells. The absorption of Glucose by liver cells is regulated by Insulin. So if insulin is insufficient / absent glucose will not be absorbed by liver cells and it remains in blood resulting in high blood glucose. The absorption of Fructose is not regulated by Insulin. So even in the absence /insufficiency of Insulin Fructose is absorbed into liver cell for energy production.

It's better you should avoid Splenda completely because and synthetic/modified materials are not good for health.

Sugar is far more safer than sugar substitutes. Any Sugar Substitute cannot be identified by our body.

How do we classify coconut water fresh from the coconut. Is it safe for diabetic to consume a glass of fresh coconut water per day.Sometimes coconut water is not sweet at all, does that make difference.

Some fruit like melon have very little sweetness, does it make safer for the diabetic to consume this more often.

I think so. But as you said, stagger.

Ultimate test is that sugar level.should not go beyond 140 generally.

You may have to do some experimentation. Purchase a glucometer.
