Help interpreting OGTT results

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so apologies if this is not the right place to ask this. I recently took a 2-hour OGTT and was a bit confused by one of the results. While both my blood glucose and insulin levels were in range, there was a note next to my glucose results: "Please note that the 1 hour value did not exceed the fasting and/or the 2 hour value by at least 1 mmol/L. This suggests that glucose absorption may have been impaired or delayed".

Is it normal for blood glucose to not rise very much? The results I got are below. Would appreciate any help working out whether this is normal or something that I should follow up a bit more.

Glucose (mmol/L) at Fasting/1h/2h: 4.4/4.5/4.4

Insulin (mU/L) at Fasting/1h/2h: 4/34/22

Both glucose and insulin values are normal.

The Insulin jump indicate that the caution in the report is not right. Their interpretation seems to be incorrect. The low BS value is to be interpreted as a result of the rapid response of the Pancreas and not as the impairment in Glucose absorption. I beg to submit that I am neither a volunteer nor an expert.

Hi ShooterGeorge thanks for the reply. Are you saying that because insulin levels jumped in response to ingesting glucose, this suggests that glucose actually had been metabolised and not impaired/delayed? After doing some digging around I have also read that this type of 'flat' glucose tolerance curve is associated with hypothyroid conditions, something that I am also being medicated for.

One can further clarify the situation by consuming 75gms of Glucose powder dissolved in a glass of water. 75gms of Glucoseis the recognised quantity for OGT Test. Please share your results.
