Carnivore Diet for Parkinson’s

I have been on a carnivore diet for 6 days and already noticed that I don’t have to take medication as often. I did DBS in 01/23 but take C/L extended release every 6 hours. I saw multiple YouTube videos and read 2 books about the diet. A few videos featured Mimi Morgan who completely reversed PD or Parkinsonism.

Has anyone else been doing the carnivore diet and seen improvements? How long have you been on it? Please share your experience. Thanks

Early improvement can be a placebo effect. Monitor yourself closely for at least 3 month. Keep detailed date wise notes of your diet, supplements, exercises, medication, electrolytes and how you are feeling. If you feel great or feel anxiety, note down the time. It will help you to get an idea of what combos are working for you. It will also help you to track progress from baseline to timeline.

I suggest you put your baseline statistics here now and then post updates monthly in the same post.

I will check on bassofspades thank you. I have been on a no sugar/ low carb diet for 7 years and keto diet for 6 months. The transition to carnivore was very easy to accomplish but made a big difference.

How effective was the DBS? As good as carnivore?

No comparison so far. DBS was a dramatic life changer! Well worth the effort. Lost 90% tremor and rigidity. Drove a car for the first time in 5 years.

10 months carnivore and all I can say is the more strictly I stick to it, the better the results. If I stray from beef butter and eggs, I notice it. Pro tip - take potassium and magnesium supplements and lots of salt.

Are you still using 1/2 tsp Salt and 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar in 1 litre water? How do you add Magnesium to the mix?

I think that amount was not really enough, and I was being conservative. I just take a salt mill and give it about 15 to 20 cranks every time I fill up my 32 oz bottle. And I put a lot of salt on my food. For Potassium, I pop one supplement 3 or 4 times per day. Potassium supplements are never more than 99mg, and the US RDA is something like 4000mg. For Magnesium, I take supplements for that too. Sometimes I take extra if it goes a long time between bowel movements, sorry if thats TMI! Also, about once per week I eat a small amount of fruit, such as a small banana, some berries or melon. But its a minimal amount. Certain Carnivore Diet advocates allow for fruit every day, but lets not go crazy!

I’ve been keto below 30g carbs a day for a few weeks and feel it has helped. Im considering 100% carnivore as Im almost there after watching videos of chaffee/berry,etc. but feel it can’t make that much difference to keto. Would love to hear more on the difference you experience

I am forced to respect the sugar addict in myself. It may be the reason carnivore seems more effective than keto. The strong and quick reaction I get to anything that can turn into sugar after being consumed. I have maintained a “no unnatural sugar”/low carb diet for 7 years and kept a low level inflammation body as a result but for me the carnivore diet offers improved symptoms ie more energy, less medication requirement and better mood. I am on C/L ER 4x/ 24 hrs. But with carnivore I tend to go longer than the 6 hours before I need a dose. Keto for 6 months with 20-30 carbs daily didn’t make that change for me.
