I have had severe joint pain for many years now, mostly in my hips or leg joints. It has been so bad at times I thought I needed hip replacements. But the doctor check me out and said that is not the problem though she didn’t know what was. It has prevented me from being able to walk very much or stand for any length of time. I’ve also had pain in my shoulders. I don’t remember how I came across reading about this supplement (UC-ii COLLEGEN) but it has helped me tremendously. I am now able to walk a half a mile which was just impossible before because of the pain. My shoulders are also practically pain-free also except for an old injury in my right side. Also this time of year I usually get a lot of arthritic type pain and so far so good I haven’t experienced that yet. It can take two weeks to two months before you notice a difference. I noticed a significant difference in one month and I’m hoping to see continued improvement over time.
I have also noticed that my muscle cramps in my legs from the PD is greatly reduced. I’ve been wondering if that could somehow be related to this collagen supplement. I haven’t seen any documentation that it should affect muscle. Then I remembered I started taking a new magnesium about the same time so I’m thinking that might be what has helped the cramping. It’s a glycinate form and I also take it with a malate form. I’ve been taking the malate for a while and just decided to continue taking one pill of malate with two pills of the new glycinate.
Below are the brands I am using in case anyone is interested. I know different things work for different people. I have tried things that have work for others that have not work for me. But thought I’d share in case it could help somebody else. That’s the thing I love about this site is all the sharing of information and experiences.
My doctor says I need a new knee , but if we are going to address to all the joint pain I will be bionic man. I will let you know the results in a couple months
Generally your doctor or pharmacist could clarify that issue for you. Other sleep aid options that you can discuss with your doctor are melatonin, valerian root, medical marijuana, gaba, tryptophan, L-theanine and glycine to name just a few. There are also combination supplements available that contain multiple sleep aids. Of course there are also prescription sleep aids, but I shy away from these myself, if some of the above are effective enough to resolve your sleep issues.
I know at least one other member has reported that magnesium glycinate pretty much abolished many pains they were having. I've taken both and I am certain that the magnesium glycinate helps with sleep when taken an hour or more before bedtime. I've also taken other forms of magnesium such as oxide, citrate, aspartate, hydroxide, sulfate, chloride and chloride oil that come to mind.
Some are more appropriate for constipation, such as citrate and oxide, while others are more appropriate for targeting the brain such as magnesium l threonate, magnesium aspartate and magnesium taurate. The magnesium aspartate has shown that it is rapidly taken up by many areas of the body including the brain. The magnesium taurate is taken up by the brain and the addition of taurine to the magnesium has potential synergy between the two.
Have you had your CRP checked for inflammation? I only have pain in my hips and legs like that from high inflammation or detoxing, definitely not a good thing to have high numbers. Anti inflammatory diet helps plus supplements like ALA and Vit C. Takes time to get it down.
