Scared of results

I had a following appointment with my GI today.

She said most of the colon is good, hiatal hernia that she’s not too worried about.

she did mentioned they removed a pre-cancerous polyp. Which made my blood drop. Specially with my anxious state. She said it with so much ease as if it was nothing.

This was my 3rd colonoscopy and 1st time finding polyps.

I'm drowning in fear.

She is going to put me on medication for my lower tract since there is inflammation there and schedule a sig flex to see if there is improvement.

Not a way I wanted to start the day.

Sorry to hear you are having such a crap time. No one should be drowning in fear without support. Can you ask them if they provide psychological support? Or go somewhere else to get it. Fixing your head will help with your gut not to mention helping you live life. Wishing you health and peace.

So many people have polyps removed in a colonoscopy - it is second nature to the clinicians doing the procedure. Please do not worry about it; in the case of your colon, it's better to have a polyp taken out. Here in the UK, we can self refer for counselling if anxiety gets overwhelming - if you have something similar in the US then perhaps it is worth getting anxiety help if you are so worried. Good luck.

Hello,

Yes I’ve been doing reading. Which I probably shouldn’t. And I’ve seen that even with precancerous polyps are somewhat common.

It was a bit of a relief but since my nature is just being a overthinker, I’ve been trying to keep calm about it.

I’ve had many polyps removed through the years had Crohns since 1975 it’s quite common to have polyps removed during scopes. Good luck with the meds for inflammation hope you get some relief.
