Hi I had a full colonoscopy last Friday , i have had UC for the last four years i was told Friday that it was still mild . Be since then I didn’t go to the loo Saturday just bloody mucus , same Sunday ,Sunday evening I did pass a bit. But ever since then it just been runny mucus and blood getting a bit worried. She did take a lot of biopsy’s , has anyone else had this after a colonoscopy, I am on Prednisolone 5mg on a reducing schedule . I am hoping they will help with this . I am only asking has anyone seen blood for this long after.

Hello Bluegirl, I passed blood and mucus about four days after my colonoscopy. I read somewhere that bleeding often doesn't occur straight a way, but often shows up to a week later. Try not to feel too alarmed, although I'm a fine one to talk, I got so worried I went to A& E thinking I had an infection. Hope things settle down soon. Sending best wishes your way.

Hope your IBD nurse gets back to you soon, and can put your mind at rest. Reading the replies it does appear as though bleeding is fairly common. Try not to worry and I hope things settle down soon.

Have you got your notes bluegirl about having a colonoscopy?. You've probably had biopsies taken so that will explain the bleeding. It should settle within a few days but obviously if it worsens you should go to A&E. Ive been waiting a fortnight for advice from the IBD nurses, they're taking a long time because they're shortstaffed. Hope thats helpful. X

HiI have Crohn's had a colonoscopy last Tuesday no 14 in my life, 2nd in the last 6 months.

Bleeding heavy is normal I had 24 biopsies taken. I am still losing blood it's like I'm having a really bad flare up but will eventually calm experience tells me so. At the moment I am all over the place, this is just how it's been previously.

Keep taking the medication it will settle.p

Hi BluegirlI passed blood after my colonoscopy it's quite usual and should settle soon, the trouble with our guts is they are active all the time and the places where the biopsies have been taken take a while to heal, try not to worry, easier said than done, we all get alarmed when we bleed by all means have a word with your Doctor to put your mind at ease. I'm sure things will settle soon.

Take care and best wishes. X

Hi bluegirl. I had a colonoscopy done 2 weeks ago. Been passing just mucus alone every now and again and one time had some blood. Yellow smelly mucus. They took multiple biopsy and yes my bowels were so upset from the prep and biopsy i had days of just passing thick watery mucus and bright fed blood even 7 days after. Its settled down now.

They found absolutely nothing and i just got the biopsy back and clear also. They told me to get on with my life but i know my passing mucus with gas will be back. Everyone even a doctor was convinced i had colitis but to everyones shock it was all normal. Im totally lost to what this could be.
