I need to know what's going on with me. They keep saying I have colitis about prescribing me antibiotics and has just recently prescribed me some steriods but I'm still in so much pain. I had an upper and lower Colonoscopy but I just won't stop bleeding. Please some one help me. How can I stop the pain and the blood??
I need help: I need to know what's... - Crohn's and Colit...
I need help
Did they explain the findings and give you a copy of the report, and action to take if bleeding continued.
My deepest sympathy on having such a terrible condition, it can be a slow process trying to get on top of this disease/condition, keep taking the steroids and hopefully things will settle down, I had this awful condition many years ago, the sight of blood and pus can be worrying and the urge to use the toilet on numerous occasions is another issue, the colonoscopy often causes a problem itself, they often remove part of the lower bowel and this causes more bleeding occasionally, I dunno if they still use colifoam which is used up back passage, obviously diet is important, so no drinking alcohol and smoking is another important factor, the pains can be terrible, and you can have periods where you'll be free from these attacks, stress also causes the condition to flare up, sorry I can't give you the perfect answer, but i wish you well.
If you have not had a pillcam urgently request one! Colonoscopies pick up large bowel issues only.. you say you've had both upper and lower colonoscopies but if it was not a pillcam you really do need to get that test done too... many have been diagnosed with things like crohn's but with the pillcam rather than CT or MRI's...
If you have been diagnosed with Colitis, then all of your problems are as a result of this. The only difference between Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis is we're they start. After that you can have flare ups anywhere along your digestive tract. As said what you eat can have a direct affect to your system. We are all different, so you just have to experiment to see what foods or drink affect you. Until the doctors get your condition under control you will suffer. I know from experience. Have you been referred to Gastro yet. They will be in the best position to help you. I would agree avoid alcohol. I had to to begin with. Fine now. Your body changes and adjusts.
I can only hope you get the support and treatment you need. Again we are all different and not all treatments work for everybody. There are a lot more treatments out there than there was 40 years ago when I was first diagnosed with Crohn's.
I've never heard of antibiotics for colitis. The usual medication is mesalazine with steroids only for serious flares.
Antibiotics can be used to treat colitis.
I never knew that. Surely Sosadme should also be on meds such as Mesalazine but there's no mention of it.
If it’s definitely UC then you would think meds should have been started although the antibiotics and steroids are both recognised treatments. Also possible the doctors aren’t experienced in IBD and not really sure on treatment plans, I had that problem for years until I saw a Gastro who knew what he was dealing with !
