Im new here, im from London and currently live in the US. ive been reading quite alot of posts as im going through some issues for the past few months. ive been terrified to confront and pretend everything is normal. I have small rectal mucus discharge at least twice a day or once a week the least, it doesnt bother me much but the fact that its their seems abnormal. I have no blood in my stool and no pain associated with it, my bowel movement is normal. I went to my doc last week and he quickly told me its IBD - chrons or UC, he asked me to make an appoitment to see the Gastronologist. Since last week i've lost my sleep and started taking supplements to reduce possible inflammation, ive also started eating healthy, my mucus has reduced but still there. I dread a colonoscopy which is why I deleyed calling the gastro but mustered up the courage and made an appoitment today for the coming Monday. I've heard people have had surgery and have j pouch bags put in, the worst i couldnt bear at all. I dont know what triggered this but im very upset and wish I never had this.
If any advice could come my way id appreciate it much. Ifeel like its better to talk to people online than offline.
Thank you and stay healthy.

There are stages probably you consume something that caused such symptoms ,drink just water as much as you can and eat white bread, potato and poultry, rice NO WHOLEFOODS,seeds and inflamatory foods like french chips, salty fatty greasy foods.Possibly just a gastroenteritis if there is not a constant cramps. 'Most probably you not gonna experience but just to remind you ' If you have a crohs or uc stages are
1 5asa drugs for mild to mid level if not
2 cortisol or steroids for severe mid level to severe for max 2 months if not
3 biologics like imuran envitro
4 surgery mostly some infected parts and mostly gone if all those 4 stages do not work
5 colostomy and j pouch stuff ,and this is the very late stage
IN SHORT ,I am not a doctor but you most probably have just gastroenteritis in worst case for you is very mild collitis and pentasa asacol etc 5 asa will help you .
Be happy , Colitis can be manageable with love, eating healthy and taking vitamin D .
Hi, thank you for your reply, i am taking apple cide vinegar in the morning and after an hour i drink celery juice. I am feeling very good and have very minimal discharge, also im eating proper but cannot eliminate tea - I love tea!.ive started taking probiotics too.
Im glad that people can live normal lives and pray everyone on here does, i just cant go down the surgery route, i had a c-section 4 years ago and i am still pretty much traumatized by the experience. I told my husband if they want to take any of my bits out im leaving the country lol
I have had Crohn's for over 30 years, I did have some surgery right near the start, but had had dreadful symptoms and was so pleased to get a diagnosis and treatment, would have had anything!! (great pain, raging diarrhoea and lost two and a half stone in three weeks). What ever you have, does not sound as if you need surgery at the moment. But thinking of any future, had you thought of some form of talking therapy, sounds like a sort of shock reaction, you never know what the future might hold. All the best.
i'm sorry you went through that and glad you doing much better, i was thinking i need to speak to someone because thinking about it so much and thinking the worst has gotten me emotional and sick. i am seeing a gastro doc today so lets see what he says.
Would advice not to neglect it n do all that you can do at this early stage .. listentoyourgut.com has alternate remedies which I believe and has been helpful also seen good results... decide wat suits you best. Sure you will be fine sooon
Hi, I don't think there is much to panic about at this stage, I was diagnosed with UC when I was in my mid 20's in 1976. With appropriate guidance from your doctors and sensible actions by you, surgery can be a long way off if at all . My doctors helped we manage my condition and despite my percieved severity, mucas, loose stools, blood etc, it was 40 years before I eventually needed any surgery. I can say that I found colonoscopies usually no big deal, I have had loads probably one every 2-3 years without any problems. Just remember, once you are under observation by your doctors they can guide you with preventive measures to manage your condition anbd keep you away from surgery as long as possible. Best of luck.
Hello, thank you for your reply. So i managed to see a Gastronologist this week, he asked me whether i had diarrhea and if i had the urge to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and if i had seen any blood, i said no nothing of the sort, he said he wasnt too much concerned about it but will do a hemocult test to check for blood in stools, now when i googled this online it was a test for colorectal cancer, ive been worried sick again. im doubting whether the doctor i saw was a good one, i was referred to him by my primary doc and read good reviews online. i felt like he shouldve shown more concern he thinks the test will come back negative but i wont sit still until i get a colonscopy done.
