Hi, is it omeprazole your on? This can raise your calprotectin levels a bit. What was reasoning for checking levels in first place x

I think that Nurse Google should be removed from the nursing register (she makes so many people worry unnecessarily). Although your reading is elevated, it is not massively high, and is only indicative of inflammation in the bowel/intestine area. It is probably the cheapest test for them to use, before they go on to the "oscopies", and therefore is not indicative of anything more than "needs further tests" at the reading you have given. I know it's easy to say, but, please, don't worry as that will make your calprotectin levels go higher.

Don’t panic honestly my calprotectin was 2228 off the charts basically and I was a anxiety ridden panicky mess and honestly I worried for nothing. The high levels meant I needed a colonoscopy which really isn’t as bad as you first think in fact it’s quite fascinating if your not too out of it on the sedatives that’s you can actually watch what’s happening, if you want to, my results showed ulceration which in turn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis prescribed medication and given loads of information and contact details for the inflammatory bowel disease nurses who are a god send! Any new symptoms and a simple phone call to them or email and they advice me right away ask questions and either prescribe necessary meds or call my doctor to book blood tests etc. It’s a scary process on the beginning but like you I was a panick ridden mess and realistically there was no need as although iv got a pretty shitty diagnosis there is a great team of people I can turn to who help when needed so don’t worry take each step as it comes

Thank you my anxiety levels normally are not good due to my prolactin levels so everything is always bigger and blacker did you no you would have a colonoscopy immediately or did the nurse refer you

The gastroenterologist referred me but I’m sure in your case the nurse will if they feel that’s what you require you will have ample notice it won’t just happen straight away because you need to take some prep for a couple of days before to clean out your bowel
