Hello. I have mild colitis and my main symptom is an overwhelming fatigue. My recent blood test shows my vitamin d level to be 41 despite taking calcichew tablets. Could that be the reason I feel so tired?
Vitamin d: Hello. I have mild colitis... - Crohn's and Colit...
Vitamin d
I know from my experience that low Vit D levels (and in my case low B12 levels) resulted in high levels of fatigue. Might be worth talking to your doctor as you can get Vit D in more formats than just tablets, I know I initially had it in liquid form, I get out very little, so also tried to eat more fish and eggs, as supposed to be good for D levels.
I'm really weary, but my tum seems to react badly to any supplements, and I've stopped taking most of mine - which I always took for years.
The only ones I still take are Theanine Serene and Melissa (Lemon Balm), as both are relaxing and help with IBS, and possibly my Colitis niggles - neither of them give me any bad effects, and do help, but when I tried the Vitamin D3, I got cramps and niggles.
I do eat fish twice each week, and eggs occasionally.
I didn't know Vitamin D came in liquid form ...does it not irritate as much as a tablet?
I am fairly sure there is one that sprays under the tongue, but only very good Pharmacist or GP would know the true ins and outs.
Thanks - I'll ask about them next time I'm at the pharmacy.
I did just find some inhalable vitamins: Nutriair from Biovea. No single Vitamins, nor multi-vits, but there is a selection including B vitamins.
I got the one for immune health, and the one for energy.
They look a bit like an electronic disposable cigarette, but obviously contain nothing to do with smoking ...just inhalable supplements in the same sort of base that many inhalers use.
Worth a try to see if they help to improves things.
Hi
I was prescribed vit D, one large dose capsul (I think it was 20,000 units) a month when my last blood test came back low. The over the counter vit d are not strong enough unless the chemist orders in for you (non prescription but not generally stocked).
