Just a idea b12

I suffer from indeterminate colitis, stomach ulcers, gallstones. I have underactive thyroid, fibromyalgia and asthma. I retired early as was getting too much. The reason I’m writing this is that for a VERY long time I have felt extremely ill and started to also get heart palpitations. Any, long story short (!) I am deficient in b12 and folic acid. I have had injections and tablets and the difference in the way I feel is brilliant. I’m not saying I haven’t still got the above but the general ill feeling has more or less gone. I’m coping so much better and don’t feel so depressed.

What I’m saying is please get such a simple thing checked. It’s made such a difference

With IBD your GP should always check your vitamin B12 and D levels as it is a known fact that you cannot absorb these vitamins properly.

I have Crohn's and had similar probs to yours. Already took Vit D off my own bat, as knew not getting out enough, it took some complaining and eventually had the B12 checked, and did need the injections. Sometimes Doctors need pushimg a little to check these things.

Are you on injections permanently?

Yes at present 3 monthly, My GP practice allows me to do my own, supplies everything including sharps box for needles. Many do not I gather. I went on the the Pernicious Anaemia site on here, and found lots of interesting info.
