Eosinophil count and Chrohns

JoyousExpectation profile image

I am in the process of being diagnosed and still figuring this out. My eosinophil count is very high. This can be seen on a regular blood test. I am wondering if my high count is related to my goastrointinal issues. Does any one else have a high count?

I am on Crohns protocol Exclusive Enteral Nutrition + immunosuppression meds. Gastroenterology is watching me for an eosinophilic enteropathy/gastroenteritis which is characterised by high eosinophils and which has similarities to crohns. This is a link to my fav source of info (you’ll find crohns in the related disorders section):

Yes that is helpful Barnclown. Going to chemist tomorrow to buy protein drinks. I have lost a stone in weight...down to 8 stone. I would feel so much better if I could gain weight. Thanks for the advice. Hope you keep well.

Good Luck...are you in care with a gastroenterology specialist dietician? I ask cause when i lost a lot of weight due to small intestine shutting down mine said i met the nhs criteria for crohns protocol Exclusive Enteral Nutrition (EEN) which is WONDERFUL...i’ve been on it for a year now and don’t miss food at all cause my GI tract is so much more functional & less painful. Here is a link to official info (apologies if you know about this already...EEN is not a Sip Feed like Complan or Ensure etc...EEN is predigested amino acids so your small intestines get complete rest. My type is Nutricia Elemental 028 Extra):
