Hi. I have UC. It’s under control at the moment. I take mesalazine, herbal remedies and supplements. About 5 years ago, i suffered from idiopathic urticaria and given Fexofenadine. Now the hive seem to come back in my neck and then go. I am convinced everything is linked. Anyone else suffers from that? Could an antihistamine sort everything out?

UC and idiopathic urticaria

Hi! What are your symptoms of idiopathic urticaria? Since the beginning of this year I developed heat-induced pins and needles. In situations when I would normally sweat I start to have pins and needles all over my body that go away once I cool down. I will have it investigated. In my case, antihistamines didn't help. They only thing that works is cooling cream.
I have UC and take mesalazine too and had a liver transplant for PSC.

Yeah Iv just had this for 12 months. As a child I had multiple allergies so Iv just done 6 months free of dairy and food colourings., as GP wouldnt help other than prescribing fexofenadine. Iv started to introduce these things back into diet now and so far - no hives.
there appeared to be 2 factors that set me off, a large increase in sulphasalazine (which I stopped taking) and having a major respiratory reaction to freshly cut grass (always been allergic to grass)
fexofenadine worked better for me, I found anti-histamines had no effect. the fexofenadine also stopped the really bad night time hives whereby I would end up sat in cold bath
there is a link between IBD and hives but there has not beem much research, but you can find some info on net.
