Zinc suppliments

I have been taking a zinc suppliment called ZMA it contains magnisiim and vitamin b6 \on a night to help me sleep. It really works well, but I've not been feeling well and was worried I'm taking too much. I've been having Humira injections resently and I have been very tired back ache and mind cloudy, I've had to take time off work cos I couldn't concentrate. I'm not sure if its connected, or I'm just clutching at straws.

It's time for you to consult your primary care doctor or another doctor to find out whether the non-prescription medications are having an adverse effect on you.

ZMA is mainly for bodybuilders and athletes as it increases muscle mass and strength, there are side effects to high doses. Have you had vit and mineral blood tests to see if you actually need zinc and b6 ? If you don't need them it's not a good idea to supplement, better to just maintain good levels with the right foods.

too much zinc causeas nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and headaches. It can also interupt iron absorption.

Magnessium can accumulate in the body and cause headaches, loss of concentration and confusion.

Vit b6 is water soluble so your body excretes what it doesn't need.

Humira can cause 'foggy' head, how long have you been on it? , it can take a few doses for your body to get used to it

I would stop taking the supplements and get some medical advice, and if needed, as bantam says, try meeting requirements with diet, or get supplements prescribed.

hope you feel better soon
