Hi all,
Does anyone have any advice on how to approach or what to expect at a gastroenterology appointment? Any questions I should be asking? How were people diagnosed with IBD? I'm rather nervous as my initial appointment with my gynaecologist went pear shaped and I don't want this one too.
I'm a 20 year old suffering with painful hip flexes and back pain, many months of no periods and infrequent bowl movements of diarrhoea, mainly constipation and bloody stools. I have tried cutting out foods, to no avail had this helped. I drink lots of water and eat a healthy balanced diet but nothing seems to change the pain or bowl movements. I also have had strong abdominal pain; including twisting and sharp pain, stabbing and constricting pain, frequent urges to go to the toilet but not be able to go and burning/achy pain made worse when I had a period along with more frequent but smaller bowl movement. I though was linked to Endometriosis and my GP refereed me to a Gynaecologist but blood tests and stool samples have shown that I have high levels of inflammation in my bowls and I've been referred to Gastroenterology and Orthopaedics.
Did anyone have infrequent periods that required them to go on the pill before, during or after they were diagnosed with IBD?
Many thanks in advance!
