Slowest runner ever!?

Just started the C25K+ podcasts and cannot believe how much I've had to step up the pace. I've been listening to Laura saying (until now) that keeping going was more important than speed but now realise that I've been running like a snail with a hangover! Anyone else found the bridge from C25K to these new podcasts a bridge too far...??

I believe they can be challenging for many, myself included. I just had to come to the realization, I will never be fast. :-) I can work on speed all I want to, but my body just seems to have a natural rhythm. Good luck! Gayle

I am very slow too and haven't even tried them! 5k takes me nearly 50 minutes, 2 months after graduation. However, speed isn't everything!

:-) :-) You're running! I dare to say, you probably don't have that many friends that could run as long as you do. :-)

Thanks, Gayle (super-10k-woman! ;) ), you're right. I need to remember that!

I had a lovely chat with someone at work today, who has just started running again, and who is also slow and had been put off when running with some others from work who were faster. Us slow-uns need to keep together!

I'm really cheered up to read this, I'm on week 6 run 3 next, very overweight, and not a youngster. It takes me 52 minutes to walk/run a 5K parkrun and was concerned that my speed was not improving much. I'll just keep plodding around secure in the knowledge that I'm not the only slow one :D

Yay! keep it up - it's hard to believe in yourself sometimes, isn't it! Have you come across John Bingham 'The Penguin'? Reading stuff about him really encouraged me to keep going in the earlier stages of c25k, when I was questioning what on earth I was doing!

I did find them really hard at first, with use it got less hard but still a challenge. I wouldn't worry though, take it at your own pace, better than pushing too hard and getting hurt.

I'm soooo relieved to read this! I do run like a snail with a hangover (love your sense of humour! This expression made me laugh!) and I felt very bad about it even though I keep repeating to myself that it's better than no running at all... But when I see newbies like me who run way faster than I am... Well... I'm happy to read that I'm not alone. ^^

Funny, one of my friends told me at lunch that she runs like a snail with asthma - you're not the only one! ;)

I found the Stepping Stones podcast (the only one I've tried) much harder than the week 9 runs... I was beetroot coloured by the time I finished. I have no sense of rythm and found keeping pace hard too.

But I think it did help me find my usual runs easier! :)
