Ok...so I just went out for W6R2 and the first 10 minute run I was fine on, but the second one nearly killed me. I was changing my route to go across roads just in the hope that there pull be traffic and I could have a break, but as is typical all the roads were clear! Anyhow after about 7 mins of the second run I did it.....I gave up. I'm not disheartened because I had guessed I would 'f.a.i.l' at some point in the 9 weeks I'm just wondering how it can be then when I managed to do the 20 mins last week without a break....
I'm putting this one down to a slight cold and a bad night sleep but think I'll take an extra day off to try and let my legs recover ( them feeling like lead was the problem)......

My problem was that 20 minute run but achieved it on the third attempt. I really beat myself up about it but realise now that its only a guide and we all have bad runs some days. I made the mistake of trying the next day as it got to me and my legs were just not ready so failed the second time. I then rested properly and managed it. I am due to do W6R3 tomorrow but am leaving it an extra day as my legs felt like lead on the last run and as its 25 minutes want to give it my best shot. I would think you not being in tip top condition was what caused you to have a bad day after all you had done the 20 minute run first time, so get well and then try again I am sure you will be fine. Good luck x
Aww.. dribblin_spaniel (love the name, shame the pic isn't a dribblin_spaniel ) Don't despair! You clearly know that the 'f' word isn't allowed on this forum, and on reading your post, I think you also know that you probably weren't quite ready for that run today. Be kinder on yourself and no beating yourself up. Grotty nights happen, weather turns grim, legs turn to jelly, lungs turn to mashed potato and moods swing ... I've had them all. Yes, give yourself time get over whatever ails you at the moment and go forward in a day or two fully recovered and in a sunny frame of mind to conquer whatever Laura chucks at you. You can do it - you've come this far and have completed the preparatory work. Lots and lots of luck and sunshine for your next outing. Take care - will look out for your next non 'f' blog Linda x
Glad you're not too down over it - lack of sleep always makes runs really hard for me too. Maybe have two rest days before you give it another go, if you're still not feeling brilliant?
Don't beat yourself up I'm just getting over the same thing happening on exactly the same run. I did it on Wednesday, so I've had a break been visiting family and am all set to have another go on Monday. Since my run Ive had a lot of people tell me that some days are just harder than others for you to have a good run. So put it down to experience and have another go in a couple of days. I look forward to hearing about your success soon, hopefully along with my own success.
Hi Dribblin_Spaniel, Sorry that you had to stop at the last minute on W2, but try again...you can do it. It's a bit strange how we were fine when we did the 20 minutes non stop run and then find it hard to do 10 minutes runs. I was like you, did the 20 minute run so well, and was very happy and then really struggled the R2W6 just to run two 10 minutes, with a break in the middle! I was just about to stop the second 10 minutes when Laura said only a minute to go so I kept on going and was really knackered at the end. Good luck to you for the second try, you will be fine this time!
