Working on my new regime and finally just about going down the garmin route myself.
This week it's been more C25k+ Speed, a 30 minute slow run on account of an impending cold, then a grand 13.74k in 1h 22m 35s this morning on a slightly more demanding route including some hillier terrain. I have just about got myself slowed down enough to focus on the endurance and nothing else but I did stretch it a little with those hills. The weekly visit to Tesco felt a little surreal at first I can tell you! Getting that pace under control with 6m/k roughly is great. With the lighter mornings and evenings now it should be possible to vary my route even more midweek as I tend to avoid unlit areas in the dark. But I am still mindful of the danger of injury by overdoing it and so am trying to listen to my body especially for the long, slow runs.
Garmin arrived but needs permission of my better half to get started using it (i.e after upcoming birthday). I got fed up of the dropout from the old Sony Ericson Xperia mini and forgetting to charge or put on GPS. So, next weekend's blog should contain some Garmin-ised data to share.
Thanks for reading and happy running.

But I probably shouldn't have done quite so much with this cold! The aim is a half marathon next year but at this rate I will be well prepared long before then. Still to do the local Parkrun or find a 10k to aim for.
Very well done James and look forward to seeing you on Garmin -- you will love it I'm sure as you get all sorts of graphs and info, much of which is actually "mobile" i.e. you can actually "see" your run in motion. Not sure if that made sense, but you'll see. Delia.
Completely agree with Delia. The Garmin is a great piece of kit. I initially couldn't see the point as I used apps on my phone but the watch is so much easier to use, and the data it collects is awesome.
Keep up the good work and 13.74k? Nicely done my friend.
I love my Garmin too although it was a bit iffy once or twice while in Cuba but hey can't grumble. You will be well on target for your 1/2M next year by the sound of things, well done.
Well done on mastering your speed to allow you to increase your distance. I understand what you mean about finding it difficult to drop your pace on the long, slow distance runs.
