Finding it hard to get back.

First it was a sore knee and hip, so I only ran once a week to try to let things settle down. Then I was in the Philippines and Cambodia for 10 days, too hot to run! Then there was the jet lag and sore throat. So here I am now trying to run again. And it is hard! A few days ago I managed 20 minutes - just. Then this morning in the rain I did 25 min with a 5 minute walk in the middle. I must have looked pretty rough because a very kind woman stopped in her car, asked if I was ok and offered me a lift!!!!! Feel so discouraged.

But you ran and that is the most important thing. Well done Mary. It'll come back, just keep at it. Tricia x

Why, Mary, do you feel discouraged? Sounds like you are doing great. You have been to Cambodia and the Philippines, more than most of us have achieved recently, count your blessings.

You got out there and had a go......which is wonderful...just keep going and you can't go wrong........if you are in a position to globe trot, you can definitely do this.... good luck...you go girl.

That does sound a bit demoralising - but then again, if you can run for 20 minutes, there's no reason at all why you can't build it up again. If it takes a bit longer than you'd like, it doesn't mean it's impossible.

And the lady offering you a lift - maybe she was responding to your body-language (that was more to do with how you felt emotionally?) - I'm sure that could happen to any of us in our warm-down walks from a horrid run! Just unfortunate it happened to you at just the moment when you needed a boost. It doesn't mean you can't run!

:) The Phillipines and Cambodia sounds amazing - was it holiday or work?

Thank you for all the encouraging words. I am determined to build it up again. I have to say, the lady offering me a lift did make me laugh once I got home and told my husband and daughter about it.

The trip was sort of work. I went out to look at what is being done to combat child sex trafficking and aftercare for those rescued. Amazing trip.

Ha ha. Not to combat aftercare! To LOOK at aftercare! :)

After everything you have experienced, I was surprised to see you did 20 minutes. Mary, try not to get down, your fitness will rebound nicely. The trip sounds amazing but I bet very emotional as well. Sending best wishes your way! Gayle
